Politics. Big Al is playing politics. He sees the potential windfall in Deadwood and sees Bullock as key to keeping his competition honest, so to speak. Best to declare a truce than to have that powerful of an enemy.

Speaking of competition? Is Cy beginning to regret giving Joanie her freedom and his consent to open her own brothel? Will Swearengen do something to undermine her entrepreneurial venture? Will Cy kill Eddie for stealing from him to finance Joanie?

Did Bullock sleep with his wife? Will this series last until the fire of 1879?

I've only watched half the episode so far. Dan has just broken down Al's office door. The Doc and Jewel are attending to Al.

Then I had to leave for work.

Your evil laugh does not bode well.

That was some shit, wasn't it? Al must have some massive stones going on up there.

I thought Trixie's reaction was fascinating. She obviously genuinely cares about him, and in some ways it's like she's the only one in the lot who understands the import of things. I think that's why she got mad at Sol when he responded so prissily to her offer.

In other news, check out these pics from the premiere post. See slide 13 for a holy shit moment.

Just as Al is the smartest man in Deadwood, Trixie is the smartest woman for understanding him.

Sol simply doesn't realize that his prissiness just don't count for shit in Deadwood. Both he and Seth need to wise up, fast. If they don't, then the likes of Cy and Mr. W. will be running this town. And their kind of evil is way more eviler than Al's.

Al's stone won't pass until the populace of Deadwood get together and stand firm against the cocksuckers in Yanktown and the Comstock.

Re: the photos. Jane? Wow.

Also, the actor playing Mr. W is the same cocksucker that shot Bill dead. His face no longer looks like a cunt.

I swear Dan is in love with Al.

Did Seth do more than sleep with Martha? If so, I missed it.

Alma recognizes opportunity when it knocks, and it's not just knocking but banging on the door with both fists.

What fuck is the deal with Mr. W? How weird can one guy be? I expect him to be another casualty eventually.

What is up with Mr. Wu? Doesn't he like competition from tall Chinese cocksuckers from San Francisco?

He he... I wondered the same thing. The intensity of his fear and despair was palpable. All the Al scenes were excellent last night.

I know, really! He was completely irrelevant. It's like the town goes to utter shit when Al is out of commission.

Not that it wasn't an interesting dynamic between Seth and Martha. It's the awkwardness of duty standing in for emotion, I guess. I also thought it was cute to see the kid just go about his business while the adults struggle to relate to each other.

She's turning into quite the badass, I think, hardening now that Seth is gone. What's with that psycho hose beast nanny, btw? I can't help but wonder if she's a plant of some kind, possibly from Alma's piece of shit dad.

The sooner the better.

I'm sure he doesn't like anyone muscling in on his gig. I bet Al isn't going to like it much either.

Man, I'm so glad Al's back next episode. Deadwood needs him. I need him.

Miss Isringhausen, the nanny, goes to Adams' room? WTF for? Had they met before?

I liked his sarcastic remarks to her. "If this is your first taste of alcohol, I'm sorry for the life you've led."

I hadn't seen them interact at all before. She's shady as hell. I can't believe Adams would be so idiotic to believe her about anything.

Ms. Isringhausen is definitely shady. There's just no way that someone who is supposedly as "proper" as she is, would ever have visited Adams unchaperoned.

She's not who she appears to be. I wouldn't be surprised if she is an agent of either Alma's dad or even of George Hearst.

I loved how Alma played E.B. The poor man simply does not stand a chance against the likes of her.

Naturally, Wu wants to defend what's his in Deadwood. Mr. Lee of San Francisco is an obvious threat to him. While, Wu might not be aware of Lee's connection to Tolliver (and ultimately George Hearst), I'm sure that Al will pick up on this connection.

livius is absolutely right. The town "fathers" (including Seth) are utterly directionless and useless without Al. Now that he's back on the mend, I'm hopeful that others will get off their asses and defend what's rightfully theirs.

Adams was right to warn Jarry about fucking over Al. Just look at the dedication Al gets from all of his employees. If it were Tolliver, the staff of the Bella Union would be stripping the joint down as Cy lay there dying on the floor.

eldar, no offense meant on my Chinese cocksuckers comment, I was paraphrasing the style of Deadwood. BTW, you're on the money on all points. I get no impression at all of where this show is going next, it's not that predictable. The sons of bitches have me hooked to the point where I can't wait for the next installment. Is that good writing or what?

One interesting historical note related to Alma's offer to buy E.B. out, there is a hotel in the real Deadwood, South Dakota named Bullock's. How about that?

damn, I am just starting to watch it but the formal language between bullock and his wife as they talk in the morning is just great. the way that they hide behind etiquette.

As fond as I am of pork products, I'd never eat any bacon or ham from Wu's pigs.
