Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
PupetteF is mostly snoozing, which is good since she's still recuperating.
Three observations so far:
This has been a pretty shit week for her. She still feels bad. I think/hope she's starting to figure out that she is safe and can relax. She doesn't like for us to be out of her sight and will finally give us a few tail wags if we kneel down and whisper in her ear.
PupF is so far a good and attentive - if intensely annoying - younger brother. He gets that she's not feeling too hot and comes around to check on her every few minutes, just in case she has run out of kisses. She sat down on the floor and took one of the 5-6 Nylabones that he has ignored for the past few years and started working on it. He gave her and then us this look, like, DADS SHE IS IN MY BONEHS, and then went and got one himself and started working on it. So there were a couple of cute minutes of dual boney time. As soon as she dozed off he went and stole his other boney back. In any case, this is good because she hasn't otherwise engaged with any toys and ignored her own Nylabone while she was sick.
Finally, the cat is dealing. He spent the first half hour sitting in the hall doing some domination staring at her, and wouldn't walk within grabbing distance of her for a while, but I think he's figured out now that she's pretty much a sedentary blob who just wants to eat and poop, and they really have a lot in common. PupetteF does not seem to care about the cat. At least not yet.

Re: An Arf-Arf Here and a Meow-Meow There... E I E I O!
Pupdates:
PupetteF is back to good health and settling in nicely. She is ambivalent towards CatF and getting along with PupF, with a single regrettable growling incident involving a piece of carrot. She still does a lot of napping, but she's gotten into a good pooping routine, so we're relieved about that.
It is clear that she has been accustomed to a pretty sedentary lifestyle, and having a bowl of food available at all times, so we've been working on eating two meals a day and getting regular exercise. Now that her general health is back to normal, we're trying to help her lose a little weight. PupF is excited to have company on his walks but he always likes to go faster and further than she does, so we wind up having separate walks after a few minutes. Walks are a new thing for her, and she seems a little confused by the concept from time to time. Like PupF is smelling everything and peeing all over the place (being a proper lady, PupetteF only pees in the back yard), she is just sort of like "Ok, where are we going again?" But she's a good sport.
She does have one feature that I haven't yet shared: a gigantic fat tail. Check it out:
And in the interest of equity, have I mentioned that PupF is an elite athlete who is well known for his grace and agility?

I think this photo should go here. Playing with the new lens & flash.
Skywalker. The angle makes her look super wide, but she not really that wide.

moar liek chunkwalker amirite? (I can't criticize, our cat is obese and has a big pink fat belly and he is also an asshole.)
PupetteF is settled in. PupF has resigned himself to the new order. The couch has been ceded entirely. We'll just stand up and watch TV now or maybe get some of those plastic patio chairs.

NO I DO NOT but I bet I have enough parts left over from my recent project to make a badass chair with a built-in 56k modem and 802.11b wireless.

Ripley and Gizmo are confused about whose dog is whose. Gizmo is my baby, and Ripley is his, but Ripley's always up in my business and Gizmo's always up in his.
They're going to be really disappointed if we ever split up and take our respective dogs with us.

It took me a minute to figure out the antecedent of "his." At first, I thought that his referred to the dogs (as in "Gizmo is my baby, and Ripley is Gizmo's baby, but Ripley's always up in my business and Gizmo's always up in Ripley's") and you had some kind of recursive dog headgames going on.
Along those lines, I'm afraid of overcomplicating PupF's relationship with his sister, because now in addition to being her younger big brother who teaches her how to do stuff like play and smell stuff, he also has a lot of responsibility for taking care of her, like when we leave the house and stuff. PupF is the one in charge. One day per week now, he has to watch his big dumb sister the whole day while the dads are at work.
