I wonder how many people have gone through and read this whole thread from start to finish after it reached like 100 pages...

Re: Miscellany
Unheard of.
Also, I was reading up on our Caribbean brother countrylets and read this interesting fact about Curaçao
Quote:
Beginning in early 2015, the Lynx rocketplane is expected to be flying suborbital space tourism flights and scientific research missions from a new spaceport on Curaçao.[47][48]

Curaçao - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It doesn't even say 'citation needed' which it says a lot in this article.

Akinator, the Web Genius
If you stump him will you post the name you stumped him with? The bastard's gotten every one I've picked, although I've let him continue on after first guess a few times.

Re: Miscellany
Winifred Burkle
You might suggest I sort of cheated on this one. A couple of questions were close to identifying the character, but only at the end of the character's arc and not the character for the majority of the series. (Illyria was "blue haired" and "evil" (or at least amoral) but I was specifically thinking of Fred. But Akinator guessed all around her, identifying Cordelia Chase and Lyla Morgan before giving up.

Re: Miscellany
He got Harry Dresden pretty quickly - as I assumed he would. But I stumped him with Lasciel, which is something of a difficult character based on the kinds of questions he's programmed to ask. On one hand there's the Blackened Denarius version that's locked into the coin and the character that gets stuck in Harry's head known as Lash.

Re: Miscellany
Got it again twice, with Agnes Varda and Nikki de Saint Phalle.
It's really annoying me, though, some of those stupid questions. It asks me a bunch times if my character is female after I've already answered, and despite already establishing that it's a real person, it keeps asking me if it's from an anime or a videogame. And there's one about having rough scales that's really weird, too.
Are people teaching this thing that fucking cartoon characters are real?

Re: Miscellany
You can add questions to its database, there's an option but I haven't tried it.

Re: Miscellany
I did it one more time and got it again with Gelert, and holy gosh, yeah, someone needs to be vetting these user contributions, because it's asking a lot of already eliminated questions and really early, it starts asking you about some stupid musical, then I went down some big road answering multiple questions about associations with PewDiePie. There were also a couple of questions that were unanswerably irrelevant. I should have written them down, because I don't remember them now.
These questions are making me so angry and frustrated I will probably only do this about seven to nine more times now. (It is working on my reward center. It's only beat me twice.)

Also stumped with the Trung sisters (leaders of a Vietnamese rebellion against ancient China), Celeborn (Galadriel's husband in Lord of the Rings), Shamir (up and coming singer) and Mike Yanagita (minor character from Fargo).

I stumped him a while back with Tora Ziyal, but now the program knows her.
HA! Stumped it with Abigail Borin (Diane Neal's character on NCIS).

Re: Miscellany
It guessed TE Lawrence. Nope. Then Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley. Who? Then Percy Shaw, inventor of cats' eyes. Then it gave up.
Harry Beck, inventor of the London Tube map.

Re: Miscellany
Gresley was the chief engineer of one of the big railway companies and was responsible for designing famous steam locomotives like Flying Scotsman and Mallard (which still holds the world steam railway engine speed record of 126 mph).
I got it with the first person I tried, Eric Laithwaite (inventor of the linear induction motor). Most of you have probably never heard of him, but that's okay because I've never heard of most of the people/characters mentioned in this thread that you've stumped it with.
