Default Audible

I usually listen to podcasts and stuff in the car on my morning and evening commutes. I recently bought one of those fancy new stereo things for my car, that can do all the CarPlay crap, and have started listened to a couple of audiobooks recently. I bought some through iTunes trying to spend down a $100 gift card that I got like YEARS ago, and have also bought a couple through Amazon.

So I bought one on Amazon that was delivered through the Audible app, but I haven't actually subscribed to Audible (I don't think.) I can access some content for free through my Prime membership, but I am considering a subscription. However, I am finding it difficult to model how the credits system will actually work in real life, because it seems like I am going to wind up paying for a bunch of credits I will not use. Thoughts, Audible users?

Also I continue to despise the Apple Podcasts app but have yet to migrate over to Audible - better, I assume?

Would these be Imperial Credits or Federation Credits?

I have a couple books that I bought during my free trials, but I always cancelled so those are the only few books I can listen to. A for real membership is way too expensive for what you get, IMO. And yeah, the use it or lose it model on the credits makes it even worse.

Where did you find the free Amazon Prime stuff?

Have you guys checked your library? A lot of them subscribe to services like Overdrive where you can borrow audiobooks online.

I get a little annoyed at most of the audiobooks I've tried to listen to because they do too much "acting" kind of stuff. I wish I could sort by monotoneness or something.

Audible Channels. https://www.amazon.com/gp/audible/channels

ETA: ok just figured out that this is actually already part of the Audible app. Very limited content.

Our library does have Overdrive and it has some cool stuff, including some of the stuff I have listened to. It has happened that there has been a waiting list for some of it. I am also listening to a lot of really long non-fictiony books (which I have put off reading because they are long) and I would feel guilty knowing that somebody else is waiting for me to finish when it takes me like 2 months. But they do have a lot of good stuff in shorter form that I might use sometime.
