Re: FF 2.0
I think maybe I just have too much free time. I just go to the main forum and can see pretty easily what I haven't read. I read pretty much everything here, except for a few thrads in the tech forum I have no interest in, and the occasional thread I put on ignore (extremely rare).
I do love the format here and I am heartened that Mr. Mammaries is interested in keeping the overall look. I know that there's another, lesser forum out there that uses a more out-of-the box (i.e., uglier) version of vB and has basic tag functionality -- any member can just add any tag they want, whether existing or brand new. I don't know how useful it would be here, considering that there aren't thousands of new posts per day. But if it were implemented, I would use it, at least to add lots of unnecessary, snarky tags to everything.

Re: FF 2.0
I forgot all about Xenforo, I'll definitely check that out.
I'm still pretty excited by Discourse. Almost every feature listed on their About page stokes my fire.

I created a shortcut to "Active Last 24 Hours" but edited the shortcut to 3 days instead of 1. Was easy-peasy.

I oppose change in most all forms but I enjoy complaining about new things, so I endorse this product or service.

FF 2.0 would totally fix that for you before you even posted.

Re: FF 2.0
Discourse looks interesting. Just noticed that it was made by the Stack Overflow people which is a good sign. The categories would serve the same purpose as our sub-forums, but the views are integrated so you can see them sorted by category or all together on the same screen sorted by newest, or "top" or category. Very clean look all around. I wonder how it would look with the livery, and if it would support more than 5,000 smilies.

Re: FF 2.0
2.0's AI core intelligently renders smilies based on smiley text and context. It supports unlimited smilies and learns over time.

Re: FF 2.0
This stupid thread!
Not its topic; I'm very interested in doing a whole new way and want to learn more.
No, the thread is stupid because I tried to subscribe to it so I could keep an eye on it. But it's not on my subscriptions list! Apparently the only way to subscribe to a thread is to reply to it.
So this is me, writing something stupid and whiny here. Boo-hoo, boo ... hoo-hoo-hoo.
