Clearly Zimmerman was in serious danger when the kid with skittles in his pocket ran away from him and he pursued.
Those who support the self defense claims of an aggressor should also have no problems with robbers killing home owners that threaten them, after all it's 'self defense.'

In California if you escalate the situation or are the first to bring out deadly force, you pretty much nullify your claims to self defense. Florida on the other hand seems to treat 'black' as a deadly weapon.

If I had been followed by a strange guy in an SUV, chased down, cornered in a private backyard and fought back against my pursuer, it would be clear that I was utilizing self defense against a stranger acting aggressively towards me. It wouldn't even be questioned, regardless of what the man who chased me down was saying.

But I am a white woman, not a black kid.

You know... that's a point. I've never seen it discussed before, but presumably "self defense" is not a legal defense in cases where you're defending yourself against someone who is only fighting you because you started something.

There was a witness. Martin was on the phone with his girlfriend while he was being pursued. It has been reported that she was still on the line with him when Zimmerman confronted him.

The girl relayed the conversation in an interview with a lawyer:

He said this man was watching him, so he put his hoodie on. He said he lost the man...I asked Trayvon to run, and he said he was going to walk fast. I told him to run but he said he was not going to run.

Trayvon said, 'What, are you following me for,' and the man said, 'What are you doing here.' Next thing I hear is somebody pushing, and somebody pushed Trayvon because the head set just fell. I called him again and he didn't answer the phone.

Her testimony was submitted in the affidavit for probable cause.

That would be a reasonable LE response if, as is generally the case in a male vs female situation, you were not a physical match for your assailant; otherwise, not necessarily. "Reasonable match" is not a relevant criterion. It might be used to utterly disqualify claims of self-defense in cases where it's obviously impossible that the person claiming that could have been in any danger. But past that... that you might have been in danger is an argument for a jury in an actual trial, it's not a reason to let you walk without at the very least investigating what happened.

I was considered p. light in the ass at a smidge less then 5' 8" at 140 lol 15 years and 15 pounds ago. The kid would have been a wraith if those are his true numbers.

WRT of the point of contention it doesn't matter unless Martin knew Zimmerman was armed, and even in the conversation as represented by his GF in your link there is no such indication.
