Our youngest graduated from UCLA's law school yesterday. Mrs. ShottleBop, three of her sisters, and I carpooled up for the ceremony, and her brother and his three daughters drove down from the Bay Area. Our youngest daughter and her boyfriend drove over from East L.A. We all went to dinner at an Italian place in Westwood, and then drove home. It was one sister-in-law's 50th birthday, so we sang happy birthday to her in the restaurant. It was a good day.

It's true! Bwhaha.
Who knew that non-temporary meant three months? I'd be more upset if I were less annoyed at the situation.

What is going to happen with her daughter?

I remember those days....returning from a 9 month deployment that turned into over a year. Met my wife at the front gate to the base, she pulled me into the backseat of the car IN THE PARKING lot...and we went at it for all of 5 minutes...

HEY....IT WAS OVER A YEAR and neither one of us took that long....lol....

Memories!!!!!

Our little fambly is going to Orlando in a couple of days. The usual theme-park deathmarches. My wife and I are actually taking one day each to do whatever the hell we want while the other takes the Li'l Puppet to whichever heartless corporate tourist trap looks good to her.

We'll be gone until Monday the 2nd, and I probably won't be prowling my Internets on anything like a regular basis again until the 4th.

I start my new job tomorrow (Thursday). I'll be based at home but for the first couple of days I need to be at the office, which is about two hours drive from here.

They've already booked me on a flight out to Minneapolis for a one week training course the week after next. :eep:

I'm hoping that there will be a bit less driving than in my previous job (40,000+ business miles/year) and a bit more working at home on the computer. :crossed:

I had a awesome weekend with the hubby. Despite being stranded in the Tucson airport for over ten hours due to the bad weather in Dallas, I finally made it home early this morning.

Speaking of, first solo today.

Fortunately, landings are not graded by points for style. #3 was more to be graded under the philosophy "Any landing you can walk away from..."

I am now ceritified to fly around in circles. Literally. I'm not allowed go anywhere.

We (meaning chunkmedicrites and I) have finally got the house in our possession.

We may be off line for quite a while. Please continue to make fun of right wing bloggers and other nutcases without me. You know in my mind I'll be right there with you!

I am getting a "re-vorce". We'd been married before (almost ten years ago), and had got back together in 2004. It is a relief, but also a little sad, though we seem to be a lot nicer to each other of a sudden. Our plan is to raise a happy and healthy kid. Details to come.

After being debt free for the last several years, I am working diligently to reverse that trend.

Tomorrow I sign some paper work that could lead me to being ~$175k in debt. That is I found a house. Second one actually, the first attempt fell through as the 2nd mortgage company failed to even look at my offer in 2 1/2 months.

Just about an hour ago I passed my oral defense of my Master's thesis, thus completing my final requirement for the MA. Nature provided a tornado and some severe thunderstorms to mark the auspicious day.

But this little part of my life may not quite be over, because my committee is encouraging me to publish my research. I would like to be published even if I don't continue in academia, but it also kind of freaks me out.

Testing for the QA analyst position is Thursday AM. 3 of my competition I can rule out without a second's thought, but there were more applicants than I expected and it's fairly fierce. Gods, I hope I win the lottery tomorrow night.

I have returned. I was not designed for such levels of sunlight as I've absorbed over the past week. I plan to sue 3 different sunscreen manufacturers. :sunburn:

Test over.

Brain. Melted.

Local paper published searchable online database with all state employee names, workplaces and salaries paid last fiscal year. DPA says: public knowledge, suck it up, we won't help you.

Just finished the second exam in two days. Think they both went reasonably well, and I didn't freak out despite not having sat one for 15 years or something. Guess I didn't melt all mt brain cells yet.

Dog. See, sick as a.

Saturday was beautiful. All the windows open all day. By Saturday night, drainage began. All downhill from there. Sunday morning it literally looked like it was snowing: it was pollen-y stuff.

Back to work tomorrow. Checked voicemail an hour ago (shouldn't have), interviews tomorrow. Offered one, so apparently scored high on the test.
