Cool map, and cool way to sneak in the subtle political agenda.

Population map: Use our interactive map to figure out how many flyover states it takes to equal one New York City.

Equal population mapper lets you pick from a few regions (NYC, LA County, etc.) and pick a county and see how many counties need to be added to equal the population of the region. For example, NYC = most of the Mountain West.

Too many maps, not enough food.

This is fascinating. I would love to be able to try some of these foods. I'll skip the lamb liver and heart, though.

Apparently lahmacun (Lahmacun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia*) which they sell in shoarma/kebab places here now is hittite in origin too. It's pretty old and basic anyway.

Also hummus seems to be there.

* in the Dutch wikipedia it mentions a much wider area where it is popular now btw, pretty much all of the middle east plus Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia

Notice how the first three landings were all very near the equator. It took a bit more fuel to reach the landing sites at higher latitudes so they only tried those later.

Most conservative (red) and most liberal (blue) towns in each state in the U.S.

Most liberal town in Oklahoma is Langston, home of Langston University, the only historically black college in Oklahoma. The population of Langston is over 92% black.

Most conservative town is Carrier, a small white-flight town near Enid, the Wheat Capital, which is only 76% white. Carrier is 0% black.

Edited to comment: Drewsey, Oregon? Bwahahaha. It's basically a ghost town.

Both of the towns in Colorado are tiny. Cope looks like there are just over a hundred people there, and Chama has approximately 63.

I went to that quiz thing, though, and it told me to live in Boulder. I hate Boulder. I try really hard not to just non-stop complain about everything when I'm there, but I can't! Everything is so stupid! Fine! We'll go live in Chama!

Oh, man, I spent a pretty long time trying to figure out what was with that little no-go area on people's foreheads before I figured out that it's supposed to be their hair.

There were only two ways that could have gone: Either I discover I've been completely oblivious to a universally verboten area on everyone's forehead, or I misinterpreted a weird infographic. So I'm pretty happy with the outcome of this investigation.
