That was hilarious. Make some more outrageous data-based claims, Jerome, I quite enjoyed watching TLR showing up your assertions as nothing more than lies.

SR71: Where did all that CO2 come from? When was the last time it was this high?
Jerome: We are not using the same methodology for calculations.
Mick: You can see the way that blue line shoots up instead of down at the end of the graph, Jerome, can't you? [...] It shows that CO2 is now way higher than it has been in the past.
Jerome: It also shows that the current temperature is not rising in relation to the increase of the CO2 ...
Mick: Okay, I'll grant you this [...] provided you acknowledge that your graph shows that the pattern of global warming and cooling cycles has been broken.

It has been broken.
When reading this graph, there are a few key points to keep in mind.

1. Cold terrain and oceans sequester C02, conversely warm terrains and oceans release C02 gas.
2. The main climate driver is the Milankovitch cycle.
3. When Milankovitch cycles drive warming, CO2 typically lags in the early warming portion, but then begins to lead. That is all natural forcings.
4. Until now, increases in CO2 that are not part of temperature driven sequestration have been rare. The Basaltic Flood was an example.
5. When Milankovitch cycles drive warming, CO2 normally overtakes temperature increase, and drives warming to produce a temperature overshoot.
6. The natural process has been over ridden by an anthropogenic process. This would be the sudden release of many gigatons of naturally sequestered carbon. See the CO2 data line at the extreme right of the graph. That is us. We put that CO2 there. We are going to find out what happens soon enough.

Okay, so you don't know what "also" means. Just one more thing to add to the pile of things you don't know that you don't know.

I guess it must be quite boring to be called out and shown that one's position isn't held earnestly, but must have been the product of dishonesty, Jerome.

But your 'also' wasn't meant to be move in a game, I think. And even if it was, it wasn't a move made by me, or in a game of my devising.

The current numbers for CO2 atmospheric concentration are derived in an entirely different manner than were the data sets it is being compared to. Now if you can evidence that the different methods derive the same data, well, you can't.

That is not how we determine the current CO2 atmospheric concentration.

So you are now saying that you believe the graph you produced is wrong, Jerry. Then you had no reason to produce it as if it informed the debate you want to have with us. Can you can explain why you chose it?

You believe I am playing a 'phrasing' game, and I believe you are playing a 'graph posting' game.

But I can explain my choice of phrases. Can you explain your choice of graph?

Yes, it shows that we are currently not at global temperature highs, and that world temperature is cyclical and is currently following the previous pattern.

Yes, you choose a graph that shows what you want, and be damned if it's in context or correct!

Nothing to see here, folks. Just another lying liar who has had his ass handed to him, but who has been lying so long that all he can do is keep lying, even after his lies have been brought to light.

Meanwhile, it was reported yesterday that 2010 showed the biggest jump ever recorded for one year in carbon dioxide emissions. When the permafrost melts, as it already is, and the methane hydrates are released, good luck!

No, not if it's wrong, Jerry. It shows nothing if you believe the calculations it's based on are wrong. Or have you changed your mind about that? Are you saying that you think it is right after all?

The vast majority of the chart is measured using the same methods, it is only that tiny bit at the end that is using a different method for measurement.

Do you know what methods are used for current data collection on CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere? Do you know how it differs from the methods used to take those measurements from ice cores to make estimates for past concentrations? Could you point out why these methods might have discrepancies with one another? Could you show how these discrepancies, should they exist, would be significant enough to cast serious doubt on the conclusions drawn from these different measurements?

While none of these things is strictly necessary to say that there might be a problem, in the thinking-out-loud, I-have-no-idea-but-I-like-to-sound-important sort of way, you have stated unequivocally that there is a problem, which means you should know at least some of these things if you were being at all honest.

Will anyone here be genuinely surprised when you admit that you do not know even one of these, or more likely simply ignore this post?

I'd be willing to bet that the answer to every single question in this post is "no," especially the last one.
