Re: I Admit I Am Powerless Against Sriracha
A hell of a lot of stuff that's not that interesting to talk about. Work has shifted a bit; we're doing a lot of paperwork administration stuff now, and hosting some conferences.
Hobby-wise, I stopped trying to build my 3d printer kit (which turned out to be an absolute lemon by all accounts) and just went and got a 3d printer and have been much happier that way.

Re: I Admit I Am Powerless Against Sriracha
The head of an "accidental empire", David Tran, has spurned offers from investors. He's never raised the wholesale price of his lusted after Sriracha chili sauce. He just wants to "make enough fresh chili sauce so that " everyone who wants Huy Fong can have it. Nothing more."

In other news: the city of Irwindale, California has filed suit to stop production at Huy Fong Foods Sriracha sauce factory, saying it's a nuisance because of the chili odor. The city says residents have complained of burning eyes, irritated throats and headaches. Some residents say they've had to leave their homes to escape the smell.

Re: I Admit I Am Powerless Against Sriracha
this came out really good
ASIAN PEANUT GRANOLA
Ingredients:
1/4 cup crunchy peanut butter, melted
1-1/2 tsp sriracha hot chili sauce (i used more)
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1/2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
1 tsp canola oil
1/4 tsp granulated garlic
1/4 tsp freshly grated ginger root
1-1/2 cups rolled oats
1/3 cup salted roasted peanuts
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
* In a medium bowl, combine melted peanut butter, hot sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, oil, garlic and ginger. Stir in oats and peanuts until even coated.
* Spread onto a greased baking sheet and bake 15-20 minutes, stirring twice, or until granola just begins to dry and crisp. Remove from oven and let cool. Granola will continue to crisp and harden as it cools.

Re: I Admit I Am Powerless Against Sriracha
Lately my local Chinese supermarket hasn't had Huy Fong Sriracha and instead is carrying Flying Goose Sriracha. I must say, I'm so used to just grabbing a big bottle and they look so similar that I didn't even notice the first time I bought one. I'm sure if I had them side by side I could taste a difference and the Flying Goose definitely seems less hot than the Rooster, but it still tastes fantastic to me.
Also, since I was aware this time I took a special look and noticed that they also have 4 types of Flying Goose Sriracha: normal, extra spicy, extra sour and extra garlic. So this time I bought the normal and a small bottle of the extra garlic one. OMG, I love the extra garlic one so much. It's awesome.
I need to find some Rooster though so I can do a side by side comparison. But it seems like most places here and in Europe only carry the Flying Goose brand... I'll keep looking...

Re: I Admit I Am Powerless Against Sriracha
I've had that Flying Goose, the Chinese shops here usually have both. It is not as garlicy and just a tad less hot I think. I probably had the 'normal' version then.

That might explain why I like the extra garlic one so much then.
