Hope you acted surprised, Ding. Good luck with managing the diagnosis.

Stormy, hope the manflu doesn't last much longer.

Our news is that the froguar is old enough to appreciate how much it sucks to vomit in the car seat and can attempt to make it to the bathroom. Parenting milestone.

Hi guys :catwave:

I've been ungodly busy, but keeping it together (mostly).

Work is good, I love my job but I'm totally overextended. Health is good - I go back to my oncologist in May and we'll see what she says.

I'm sleep deprived from being up too late last night monitoring protests after the results of a police shooting investigation were revealed, with no charges brought against the police. Peaceful protests for now, but people are angry. It's weird hearing helicopter overhead.

Kittehs are fine, fat and sassy. Except for Meep, she's a runty little thing. But sassy!

Got up this morning and ni Internet or landline. My brother went to the Phone Company but they couldn't help because he had to call it in... from home... where the phone service they are supposed to be providing doesn't work. (he has no cellphone)

I get home from work and call the hotline. Our modem is borked and they are sending a new one. Apparently UPS is delivering it on Saturday? Is that a thing now? :hm:

I have numbness and tingling in my extremities, but I'm blaming it on lead poisoning. I'm sure some of it is carpal tunnel, but it's the only lead symptom I can definitively say got worse during the period I was drinking it. All the other symptoms on the list can be explained by other things, so I'll never be sure.

They even deliver on Sundays now, so does the USPS, packages only.

No diabeetus for me. My numbers were just edging into pre-diabetic when I had my foot surgery, but my last test was back in the safe range. Leprosy I have not been tested for.

Could be Luxembourg (Hu)Man-Flu

The modem/router arrived a day early and after a bit of work with a service tech in a chat window, everything seems to be doing ok. Of course that in itself makes me paranoid...

I know I've been having a hard time and complaining a lot, but I must say, I really love Poly. I know it's not for everyone but my GF went out to see Wicked with her other partner tonight and I'm just so happy she had a good time. This is called compersion which I find a kinda stupid name but it's really true, the enjoyment that others are having a good time. I was certainly not up for any of it, and thus instead of everyone feeling disappointed they were able to have a great experience, and I'm so happy they got to see such a great play!

Then the other day I got Steve Hackett's Every Day stuck in my head. I fired up Google to search for a video and found out that Hackett is in Boulder on 4/4, doing a concert of half solo stuff and half vintage Genesis stuff.
So last Friday I spoke with one of the partners and asked if it would be OK if I worked from home on 4/4 and 4/11 because of the concerts. Turned out that he was going to the Hackett show as well. We then proceeded to kill an hour talking about 1970s prog, lamenting the deaths of Keith Emerson and Chris Squire, and other acts we hope come to Lolorado. I've known the man for almost ten years and had no clue he was a progger until that conversation.

Anyhoo, the Hackett concert was spectacular. For me, there's nothing quite like seeing a master practice his craft in a venue filled with appreciative geezers such as myself. And they performed p. much every song I had on my wish list.

Mr. Pee was trooper's trooper. She actively dislikes prog and basically loathes Boulder, but there she was, shoulder to shoulder with me for the whole 2.5 hours. I am a very lucky fellow.

Next Monday: Elvis Costello. It'll be my first Elvis show, and number 732 or so for Mr. Pee.

Finally pulled the trigger on a new mattress set. This thing is huge! Seriously, I am sleeping on a level with the top of my high dresser, higher than my shorter bookcase. I can just barely reach to turn on my white noise generator or light on my night stand at the fullest reach of my arm. If I toss one of my wrist braces out of bed during a hot flash like usual, I'm screwed.

They said it was partly because my bed frame is an antique and sits higher than they make them now. They are going to bring me back a low profile box spring, but not until next Monday because I'm not taking time off work for a delivery. Fortunately, I had a little foot stool I use with my rocking chair that I could borrow to get into bed. I previously had my mattresses on the floor because one of the side slats was too bent to be usable. That's what happens when you let nephews use family heirlooms. I honestly have no idea where the original wooden sides have gotten to, I just bought new ones.

Been staying away from here for no good reason except I'm still working out four days a week and then coming home and indulging in bad, mostly non-dietary, habits. But the money will be running out this month and it's time to get serious about looking for a jerb. DO NOT WANT! Since January's snow storm I've been watching the local morning news and being happy about not dealing with Nashville traffic. If only I could find something east of my home instead, where the traffic flow is much better.

O why couldn't I have been born rich instead of beautiful ...? :wish:

My "diabeetus" responded well to low carb diet and lots of exercise and alcohol abstinence. Last few blood glucose readings were 122 and 108. To celebrate my small victory, I had a whisky on the rocks at the bar where I picked up my wife, where I left her when I went and worked out rather vigorously with another woman. Big mistake: nearly instant feet swelling. Blood glucose 146. Ugh. Life, it's a death sentence.

Since my wife's diabetes was diagnosed I've gone on a low carb diet with her. I am technically pre-diabetic (my most recent A1c was 5.7) so I test my blood sugar once a week, first thing in the morning. Wednesday morning it was 113 which is about par for the course with me. Though I did score a 94 last week. It is like golf, the lower the score the better. Anyway, Wednesday was also the last catechism class until next fall, so we celebrated with a snack potluck. I seriously over indulged on the carbs with ice cream, soda pop, donuts, cookies rice krispies bars and chips. Out of sheer scientific curiousity I tested my blood sugar before going to bed that night. It was the highest I have ever scored with a whopping 134. So again this morning, once more in the interests of medical science, I tested my blood sugar. I scored a very respectable 104. My pancreas must have been made by Timex. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

134 after eating is within the normal range. A 5.7 A1C means your average blood glucose for the last three months was 117 mg/dL (according to this table).

I should probably have mentioned that the 134 was at least 6 hours after eating. No telling what it was 2 hours after my sugar binge.
