Re: First World Problems
The shelves and sorting are a work in constant progress. Just last week we got a Matt Damon shelf. A number of his films were otherwise causing us placement disputes.
A number of the ones that are possibly dystopian are now profiled as sci-fi/futuristic. But that shelf is currently full, expanding it means moving them elsewhere or taking over another BENNO compartment. Also, is District 9 "aliens", "Sci-fi/futuristic", "monsters" or the new proposed "dystopian"?

Intriguing. But the ones I have of those I have under general "human assholery". Also largely because I don't like horror.

You need a miscellany section to cater for those difficult to categorize items - this will quickly expand to dwarf all other sections.

The closest supermarket has big hand sanitizer bottles at every register. First time I experienced this distillery-made stuff, at least that I know of, because it smells like Jack Daniels. So you can put as much of this stuff on your hands as you want, if you don't mind smelling like a drunk.
I make no claims or denials regarding how much I drink, but damned if I'm gonna smell like a drunk.

Re: First World Problems
Couple weeks ago I called all my utilities to tell them I would be moving. Instructed my ISP (hint, rhymes with Horizon) that I would want to keep the Internet on at my old place as I would continue to live (and work) there well into this week, and Internet at the new place too so I could hook up my Amazon spy-on-me shit and The Kid could go online to play her Roblox-crazytown-trading-halos-and-trolling-other-prepubescent-girls-game without interruption.
Internet ON at new place starting August 1, and OFF at old place when I called them and said "OK, shut it off at the old place." Their response? "Fine np! Easy peasy :squeezey:"
Was up very early at my old place on Saturday morning watching a video on YouTube when it spun out and wouldn't come back on. Because, as I eventually discovered (and most have you have probably guessed) it was shut off. Because instead of setting up a new account at the new place, they just moved my old account. To get Internet turned back on at Chateau Colonial would require an entirely new account and a credit check, the requirements for which were apparently imfuckingpossible to pass since their app to take a photo of my driver's license timed out every time time they sent me the link. Having a bank account linked to autopay? Sending back a dozen "one time codes" by both text and email? Being a customer for over ten years? Calling them on a phone that is on their wireless service? "Fuck that shit fucker, we need a photo of your license, from the app in the link." That didn't work. Many hours spent the last three days with my phone on the desk playing "on hold" music on speakerphone while my ISP shunted my from this person to another while they never turned the Internets back on.
And my old router wouldn't work over at the new place when I brought it over yesterday so today I had to buy a new router.
And, AND the network adapter for my music composition PC doesn't play well with the new router so I am going to have to buy a new one of those too.
Still way cheaper the "awesome deal" my ISP offered me, to sell me a router for $300 upfront or rent it to me for $15 a month...
I'll probably be back to discuss the finer points of moving during a tropical storm.

I heard that hand sanitizer has really been messing with Interlocks.

I need to get an uglier hairdresser. I always feel like an iguana in a wig when I see the two of us in the mirror.
Also, I frequently end up with a full Karen look.

Re: First World Problems
Goddamned fucking water heater has been out for 2 days, since it was nice enough to take a shit on Saturday morning. Had to wait until today to get the part we thought was bad (the thermocouple) and my stepdad to put it together. Nope, there's something wrong with the fucking regulator, which is a bigger deal. The power/gas company (PG&E) will be here this afternoon, who can at least figure out whether we can get it going without blowing up the house.
I really need a shower.

Re: First World Problems
FUCK. $130 for the thermocouple, which is now bent into place & thus unreturnable. A complete waste; it's the fucking burner valve. That'll cost more than half of an entirely new unit. SHIT FUCK GOLLY GOSH MOTHERFUCKERBURGERS.

Re: First World Problems
Having been in deep denial about the quarantine situation since March, I only just now got around to setting up my external monitor and mouse and keyboard for my work computer.
I have a really nice desk that was a hand-me-down from my mommy (like literally 95% of my furniture), and it has a slide-out keyboard tray that is a comfortable height for typing and mousing. I also apparently have a full-size keyboard and I mean full-size with the full qwerty action, plus 3 columns for navigation (ins, del, -up, arrows, etc), plus 4 more columns for a full numeric keypad, an artifact of my former accounting career, when my data-entry speeds were off the chain, yo. So this extra-wide keyboard takes up most of the tray, leaving me about 4 inches of mouse space to mouse across the width of 2 displays. Not comfy.
Also my mouse has a scroll wheel, and I want the scroll direction to work the opposite of the way the trackpad works, but as far as I can tell on the mac (please correct me if I'm wrong), you only get to choose one direction and it gets applied to all your mousy devices. Even though, is it just me, or doesn't it feel like the scroll wheel should work the opposite of the trackpad?

Re: First World Problems
If you think an Apple device is not working the way you want, it is you who are at fault. Apple products don't need to be configurable because they are designed perfectly. They're OK with limiting their market share to users who are also perfect.
