I considered that, but was under the impression that temple garments were only worn ... well, in temples. Wikipedia says that's wrong.

Wiki also says that Mormons consider the term "magic underwear" misleading and offensive, which is all the more reason to use the term "magic underwear." :yup:

Actually, they do have special clothes, robes really, that are only worn in the temple.

When I was talking about the magic underwear to a serious Mormon, I referred to them as "super secret underwear" because that's slightly less insulting.

To this Mormon, who didn't believe the underwear was actually magic, the underwear is "secret" because it really shouldn't be shown to non-believers. He treated it as a symbolic reminder of his faith, like wearing a cross. Only more supportive in the groin.

The Bundys are outside the mainstream LDS faith, as they've claimed to have personal prophecies, and the LDS church has rejected this. I can probably find more, but just that is enough to label them as radical LDS fundamentalists.

I'd be mildly surprised if Cliven doesn't have more than one wife (in practice, not legally.)

I knew Mormons in Wyoming and Utah that did believe their garments gave them magic protection from harm. I saw evidence of the magic myself when this one Mormon goober in Wyoming who was in charge of the plant laboratory (the job I turned down because of the cut in pay) was tasked with getting rid of all the surplus chemicals. Brilliantly, he decided to pour them all into a five gallon glass carboy, which asploded spectacularly, spraying phenolphthalein magenta colored toxic chemicals all over the lab, a considerable amount of which seeped under the wall into the control room where I was working. He was unharmed, untouched even, by any of it, not a stain on him. Pretty impressive. I wanted some of that underwear myself after that, but was unwilling to go to the lengths required to get myself some. Let's just say I don't have the credentials required to shop in Beehive Clothing Mills stores in the malls in Salt Lake.

See, Bundy never would have ever been in the position of needing to make a sheet rope in the first place had he exercised his sovereign prerogatives properly. Every Sovereign Citizen knows that federal courts have exactly zero jurisdiction unless the so-called "defendant" consents. Had he simply stood mute at his initial appearance, the court would have been compelled to let him go. By stating that he planned to represent himself, he tacitly confessed the court's authority over him.

What a dumbass!
