Almost everything you buy in the supermarkets nowadays has sugar (often lots of sugar) added. It's ridiculous. I was shopping for applesauce today, and it took me quite awhile to find some "plain" applesauce in which the 2nd or third ingredient wasn't either sucrose or high fructose corn syrup.


Seriously, who thinks that applesauce isn't sweet enough, and needs lots of added sugar?




That's a trick question, I suppose; obviously, the corn and sugar industries think that applesauce just isn't sweet enough on its own.

A while back, I got really excited because the store had regular sandwich bread that said, "No sugar added" on the label, so I bought it, got it home, took a bite of one, and KAKK! SWEET!

Sucralose.

For the record, these are the basic bread ingredients:

Flour (unsweetened)
Water (unsweetened)
Salt (unsweetened)
Yeast (unsweetened)

Maybe by "salt" they mean lead acetate. The Romans used that as a sweetener and poisoned their brains with the stuff.

It's not unusual to find stuff for sale that has different kinds of sugars as two or even three of the first five ingredients. I daresay that most Americans have no idea how much sugar they ingest during a typical day.

This is one of the advantages of having a very uncommon name.

Although somehow, someone beat me to getting my Gmail address.

(There are at least two or three others with the same first and last name as me in the US, and I'm sure even more in Italy.)

If you have a first name and a surname from different language cultures, and also if your first name is a contraction of your official hyphenated first name, then it would be no surprise if the entire first page of Google results was about you.
