Default Abortion Pills by Drone

Transportation and timing are challenging for women seeking abortions, who are not well off.

"An ‘abortion drone’ has dropped pregnancy-terminating pills in Poland, resulting in criminal charges for campaigners. The mission was aimed at highlighting the nation's strict abortion laws, which result in about 50,000 underground terminations each year.

Taking off from the town of Frankfurt an der Odur, the drone flew across the River Oder to the Polish border town of Slubice. There, it dropped two packs of mifepristone and misoprostol to two women, who swallowed them when they arrived."

Women on Waves provides Abortion Pills to some countries:

I need an abortion with pills — Women on Web

"As Republicans in the new Congress and in state legislatures across the United States seek new restrictions on abortion, we look at the story of a Dutch doctor who has brought safe abortion to countries around the world where it is illegal. The new documentary "Vessel" follows Dr. Rebecca Gomperts, founder of Women on Waves, who set sail on a ship to provide abortions in international waters, where a country’s bans do not apply. Gomperts later founded Women on Web, an online support service that helps women obtain and safely take medications to induce abortion. We speak with Gomperts and "Vessel" director Diana Whitten."

It is horrible how much effort some people put into depriving women of basic healthcare like this, but it's heartening how much effort others put into providing it. Abortion providers are real front line heroes as far as I'm concerned.

I'm going to nitpick something now, which I don't mean as criticism of you, but of prevalent framing of the issue: Abortion is only tangentially and not universally related to sexuality. It's a health and human rights issue.

I thought about putting it under Science. I don't see a Health and Human Rights section in this Freethought Forum. I was hoping not to offend Right Wingers, by posting on this forum. I just want to post research issues on population. Sex is related to population.

In Many countries, poor people do not have access to family planning.

In Mexico, abortions are only available if a woman travels to Mexico City.

"Abortion funds may be able to help you pay for your abortion and you may be able to get a discount at your clinic. But abortion funds just don’t have the money to cover the entire cost of your abortion, so you’re going to need to come up with some money on your own.

We know you’ve already been thinking about this non-stop, probably for several days or weeks. But we talk to a lot of women who are in your situation, and we think this list might help you come up with a few ideas that you missed.

The list is long and might feel overwhelming. Remember that these are just ideas – please don’t ever do anything that makes you feel unsafe or could put your health in danger.?

How can I find all the money I need? | Fund Abortion Now.org

Immigration is an issue, but no one connects sex, birth control and abortion to pressures on the resources for jobs in Mexico. The Republicans attempt to get the Mexico City policy re-instated.

no, not really. it's actually noble to see people act on the belief that they are saving the life of an innocent human being. you might disagree with what they consider human, but should you not act if you see what you perceive as innocent children being killed? aren't they actually doing the right thing given what they believe?

you just believe differently.

i'm not a big fan of abortion, but we kill people all the time to make our lives easier so i'm not going to be all hypocritical about it.

It is true that there are SOME Pro-Life people who are interested in saving children's lives. Some contribute to starving children's funds.

Unfortunately there are too many supposedly Pro-Lifer's who are actually anti-birth control. The Mecixo City Rule was that if abortion was discussed by a program, then the program was defunded. Many programs lost US Funding, that were providing contraceptives.

"Editor's Note:This is truly a shocking moment. This Thursday morning, the GOP-controlled House is likely to vote on an Amendment to defund Planned Parenthood. As Cecile Richards explains in this interview below with Democracy Now!'s Amy Goodman, millions of women, men and children who depend on Planned Parenthood would be deprived of basic health care, if the right wing Republicans get their way. This is a decided minority of our country trying to impose their views on all of us."

"In the GOP budget introduced last week, anti-women’s health politicians in the U.S. House proposed to eradicate the successful, decades-old Title X program, which provides family planning services to millions of low-income women, men, and families per year. - See more at: http://www.plannedparenthoodaction.org/elections-politics/blog/gop-budget-would-completely-eliminate-us-family-planning-program-and-cut-almost-all-sex-ed-funding-were-fight/#sthash.CYJIzdUD.dpuf"

The GOP Budget Would Completely Eliminate the U.S. Family Planning Program and Cut Almost All Sex Ed Funding — But We’re Up for the Fight

"House Republicans released a budget proposal this week that would eliminate funding for the Title X program, a decades-old network of family planning providers offering birth control, cancer screenings, STD testing, and reproductive health treatment to millions of low-income women across the country.

The Title X program was first created in 1970 under former President Richard Nixon. Back then, federally-funded family planning services had broad bipartisan support on Capitol Hill, as lawmakers on both sides of the aisle acknowledged the government’s role in making birth control more accessible to impoverished Americans. “It is my view that no American woman should be denied access to family planning assistance because of her economic condition,” Nixon declared at the time."

Catholic Beliefs limit family planning.

"On the surface, there may seem to be little difference. But the end result is not the only thing that matters, and the way we get to that result may make an enormous moral difference. Some ways respect God’s gifts to us while others do not. Couples who have practiced Natural Family Planning after using contraception have experienced a profound difference in the meaning of their sexual intimacy.

When couples use contraception, either physical or chemical, they suppress their fertility, asserting that they alone have ultimate control over this power to create a new human life. With NFP, spouses respect God’s design for life and love. They may choose to refrain from sexual union during the woman’s fertile time, doing nothing to destroy the love-giving or life-giving meaning that is present. This is the difference between choosing to falsify the full marital language of the body and choosing at certain times not to speak that language.

The Church’s support for NFP is not based on its being “natural” as opposed to artificial. Rather, NFP respects the God-given power to love a new human life into being even when we are not actively seeking to exercise that power. However, because NFP does not change the human body in any way, or upset its balance with potentially harmful drugs or devices, people of other faiths or of no religious affiliation have also come to accept and use it from a desire to work in harmony with their bodies. They have also found that it leads couples to show greater attentiveness to and respect for each other."

Another problem with real pro-lifers is that they give no resistance to being co-opted by anti-contraception proposals.

"Republicans have tried unsuccessfully to gut Title X in the past while Democrats controlled the Senate. However, Republicans have successfully enacted a $31 million decrease in the program’s budget since 2010. It remains to be seen what will happen this time. Democrats will likely put up a fight to preserve this vital health care access. But even if this attempt fails, this move reveals the modern-day Republican ethos, and we cannot look away.

“Fewer resources would set off a cascade of effects that would push the family planning safety net beyond its breaking point—prompt health center closures, force layoffs among clinicians and administrators, and severely cripple service delivery capacity, all of which translate to fewer women and men who would be able to access the critical health care they need,” Clare Coleman, the president of the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA), said in a statement in response. In short, this cut would be devastating.

This move flies in the face of any Republican deceitful claim that they support birth control access or that they simply oppose abortion (notably, Title X does not provide any funding for abortion). In reality, Republicans are trying to eradicate any semblance of reproductive health care from American women. Abortion? No. Contraception? No. STI testing? No. Breast cancer screenings? Nope, not even that, it seems."

"The S900 is basically completely collapsible. The drone's six carbon fiber arms fold down for storage, and the landing gear retracts during flight, so that the aircraft is streamlined at all times. (This also keeps the landing gear out of the camera's line of sight.) DJI also pulled off a tough task by making the drone lighter than its predecessor, the S800, while increasing the payload capacity to over 10 pounds. That makes it robust enough to haul a Canon 5D, but light enough to carry with one hand."

After Generation X?

"Planned Parenthood Generation Action Network is a network of young organizers and activists across the country who organize events on their campuses and in their communities to mobilize advocates for reproductive freedom; in addition to raising public awareness about reproductive health and rights, educating young people about sexual health, and creating lasting change in those communities.

Planned Parenthood Generation Action is committed to building a robust, national network of young leaders and arming them with the tools needed to create change through a range of national campaigns, conferences, and leadership opportunities. Furthermore, this unique network acknowledges and supports the dynamic perspectives and intersectional framework that young people are using to connect reproductive health to other issue like civil rights, immigration, the environment, and identity politics."
