Re: DC Nation
Gonzo. You should perfect your Paul Lynde impersonation just for moments like that. Because fuck those guys.

Re: DC Nation
Earlier this week my local radio guys had Kevin Smith on their show. He was promoting some thing or other that he's doing, I forget what. But they asked him about the whole Gay Lantern thing and he gave some insight that isn't found in any article I've seen on the whole deal.
It boils down to this: Apparently the PTBs at WB know shit about marketing DC or anything with that built in niche audience. The whole Alan Scott being gay isn't such a big deal in the actual comic in which he appears. It's just one of the things that simply is, in that specific universe. Rather than letting it exist, WBDC gets a bug in their hair because of what's happening over at Marvel and they think they should promote their big gay thing that's happening. Alan Scott being gay was not a big deal except to the little brains in marketing or wherever.
After hearing KSmith say that, I was cool about it all. It wasn't a stunt on the part of the creators, just some other dudes who thought that DC needed the promotion to feel relevant or something.
Also, there's this guy who totally gets it.

Re: DC Nation
I could have told you DC knew shit about marketing. Back in 1990 or so, when Swamp Thing was on TV at 10:00pm and the comic was "Recommended for Mature Readers" what did they offer as the only merchandising? Children's sized t-shirts and toys. Fucking idiots!

Re: DC Nation
Especially bad since at least when I read it, Swamp Thing was actually mature rather than sophomoric, as that label usually meant.

Re: DC Nation
I was playing Lego Harry Potter, and the music in this one scene kept making my brain go "Batman" and it's the movie score so why was I thinking about Batman? So now I have to watch the Batman movies again to see which one my brain says got stoled from
It's the only DC related thing I have this year, so there ya go.

Re: DC Nation
Club Penguin has been overlaid with a Marvel storyline allowing members to choose the Hero or Villain team and dress in Marvel costumes and they have some weaponized snowballs.
So, I let Kiddo get a free account to see what's what.
Yeah, it's as weird as it sounds, but the kids seem to be eating it up. Kiddo wants a paid membership but I am not so sure he will stick it out enough to make it worth it. We'll see..

Re: DC Nation
I lean toward the viewpoint that anyone not in BTAS doesn't count. I might be wrong, but that's my stance.

Amazon has the complete Justice League, including JLU, on sale for 55% off, if you're interested. I ordered it today.
