Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
John Hickenlooper Is the New Joe Lieberman
Quote:
If there is such a thing as an anti-climate Democrat, it’s John Hickenlooper, no matter what the DSCC says about voting for him to “act on climate.” West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin may have raised eyebrows by backing Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Accords, but Manchin never bragged about drinking a glass of Hallibutron fracking fluid, as Hickenlooper once did. Hickenlooper’s devotional act remains part of the reason he’s known by the nickname “Frackenlooper.”
“You can drink it. We did drink it around the table, almost ritual-like, in a funny way,” Hickenlooper told the Senate back in 2013. Then-Senator Al Franken asked if this were an occult practice. “No, there were no religious overtures,” Hickenlooper deadpanned. (Halliburton’s own website, then and now, warned that its CleanStim fluid “should not be considered edible.”)
As governor, he threatened to sue towns that restricted fracking enterprises, and followed through more than once. He led a fight against a ballot measure allowing communities to restrict fracking development.
Hickenlooper just dropped out of the presidential campaign, after spending about $2.3 million to play human asterisk aside more progressive opponents. Debate moderators were glad he was there to call on when they wanted to accuse other candidates of being too radical. Apart from that, Hickenlooper’s presidential campaign highlight was probably comparing Medicare for All to Stalinism.
|
Hickenlooper is a charmer!
Quote:
Despite this, and despite the fact that Hickenlooper’s in-state approval rating has plunged eight points since his punchline presidential run, the party is backing him against a large field of primary contenders that includes former Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff. Doing so sets up the Colorado Democratic primary to be a flashpoint contest similar to the Connecticut Senate primary of 2006, with Hickenlooper as the V-neck sweatered analog to Joe Lieberman.

Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
The effort to recall our Democratic governor went to shit when organizers fell light years short of getting a sufficient number of signatures on petitions to get the issue on the ballot.
So what happened to the money these grifters collected? Well, about $30K of it went to Colorado for Trump, a committee run by the same Juli-Andra Fuentes who spearheaded the recall effort (and who's pretty sure the Jews were responsible for 9/11). Turns out the Trump campaign was pretty pissed off about Ms. Fuentes' committee using Fearless Leader's name despite having no connection at all to the reelection campaign. At one point the campaign threatened legal action, which prompted Fuentes to announce that she could smooth everything over if only the president would call her.
Local teevee reporter Kyle Clark has been looking into the matter. Turns out that the "Trump" in Colorado for Trump is not Donald Trump at all; Ms. Fuentes tells us that Trump is actually an acronym for "Truth will restore the republic and unbiased media gives power to the people." So yeah, everything's on the up and up.

O brave new world, that has such acronyms in it!
I'm getting more used to the wingnuts' ability to tell these ridiculously brazen lies with a straight face. I still get a little surprised at how little thought goes into them before exiting their mouth-holes, however.

Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
Also failing miserably was an attempt to recall Democratic state senator Leroy Garcia. They needed 13,506 signatures to get the recall before the voters. They turned in 120 signatures. One of the stump-jumping cretins involved in the recall effort said they got many, MANY more signatures, but won't be submitting them due to "fear of voter intimidation."
ETA:
According to our Secretary of State, the Garcia recall campaign turned in 4 signatures rather than the 120 previously reported.

Former congressman and all-around cowardly draft-dodging racist scum Tom Tancredo remains a very classy fellow.

There's a quote for that but my brain is failing. Something like it takes 10 times the effort to show a lie is untrue than it takes to propagate a lie.

Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
This guy, from a wiki about Brandolinis -
Quote:
Publicly formulated the first time in January 2013[13] by Alberto Brandolini, an Italian programmer, the bullshit asymmetry principle (also known as Brandolini's law[14][15]) states that:
The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it.
It became especially popular after a picture of a presentation by Brandolini at XP2014 on May 30, 2014, was posted on Twitter.[16] Brandolini was inspired by reading Daniel Kahneman's Thinking, Fast and Slow right before watching an Italian political talk show with journalist Marco Travaglio and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi attacking each other.[17][18] A similar concept, the "mountain of shit theory", was formulated by the Italian blogger Uriel Fanelli in 2010, roughly stating the same sentence.[19]
Brandolini's law emphasizes the difficulty of debunking bullshit.[20]

There'll be no shortage of qualified Dems to run against Gardner, though. That Senate seat is ripe for the pickin', as Gardner becomes more of a shit show with each passing day.

Neguse strikes me as exceptionally charismatic. He's so composed and speaks so well. I don't know much about his politics but I like his style. Seen him do a number of interviews, found nothing objectionable in any of them.

In "very fine people" news, this piece of shit was actively conspiring to blow up a synagogue in Pueblo. Fortunately enough, Danny Dumbfuck's co-conspirators were FBI agents.

“I wish the holocaust really did happen.” - Post Modern Neo Nazi.
This quote made me laugh way too hard. That Neo-nazis have worked hard to erase the great racial cleansing their forefathers wanted to be remembered by is some excellent dark comedy.

At least the would-be synagogue bomber appears to be a true believer Holocaust denier, as opposed to the "Holocaust never happened *nudge nudge, wink wink, say n'more say n'more*, but next time we're gonna do it up right" types commonly seen among the Very Fine People.

Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
That shit was epic. Even better in this, the land of the Columbine massacre, was the non-apology Bonniwell proffered last night. In a tweet that's since been deleted, ol' Chuck wrote that "I made an inappropriate comment meant as a joke. I'm sorry it was not received that way."
@ "apologizing" for other people being too dumb to recognize a joke, while at the same time being fuck-all stupid enough to believe that the joke thing, even if true, is somehow exonerative.
Yes, this is the same KNUS that brought us the Craig Silverman kerfuffle Lars and Kamilah referenced above. Silverman got shitcanned in the middle of a show. Station management said they canned him for promoting appearances he was making on another station. Silverman said his contract with KNUS was non-exclusive and allowed him to promote his other appearances on KNUS's air, and that he got fired for repeatedly criticizing Trump. Silverman's description of his contract seems like a very bad deal for the station, but hey, I've seen people contractually bind themselves to much dumber terms than that.
In between Silverman and Bonniwell, one of our local anti-facist organizations caught KNUS producer Kirk Widlund posting a bunch of heinous Nazi shit on Russian social media sites. Widlund and the station denied the allegations vehemently, claiming that Colorado Springs Antifa forged all the Russian social media posts and profiles. Cuz, naturally, bringing down Kirk Widlund (who?) is the key to to bringing down conservative America. Since then, evidence of Mr. Widlund's Nazi leanings has continued to mount, and the station has gone quiet.
ETA:
I just read that Bonniwell's show will be replaced with a syndicated radio program hosted by - I shit you not - Sebastian Gorka. That'll take care of those Nazi issues right quick!

Re: What's the frequency, Colorado?
GOP Rep. Scott Tipton, an ineffectual moron, apparently isn't wingnutty enough for some of the God-fearin' folk of Colorado's Congressional District 3. He now has a Republican challenger for the CD3 seat. The challenger is Lauren Boebert, a restaurateur who owns and operates Shooters Grill in Rifle, CO, where the shtick is that Ms. Boebert and the servers open-carry on the job.
Colorado Dems have taken to calling Ms. Boebert "Yosemite Samantha" and the restaurant "Glocksuckers," but Colorado CD3 is full of wingnuts with whom this special brand of crazy will resonate in a big way.
