Re: Good King Trump
Honestly, I think purchasing Greenland is not a terrible idea, prima facie. I would vaguely support any President's suggestion to buy it. At the very least, it's not the worst idea of the Trump Presidency.
Where it all falls apart is in the execution. The idea of buying Greenland seems reasonable until you realize:
1) The Danish government is not going to even entertain the notion. I don't think the Danish government is having trouble maintaining Greenland and need the money.
2) As far as I know, the people of Greenland don’t like the idea.
3) Trump is a terrible negotiator, and will somehow fuck this up.
The fact that Trump, after the negative public reaction, is still serious about it is kind of proof of #3.

Re: Good King Trump
I remember when the 2nd greatest leader of the jews told his followers there were good Egyptians on both sides!
It’s pretty funny and interesting watching the many christian cultists who were certain Bill Clinton or omg the anti-christ himself, Obama, was fulfilling the many prophecies to bring about the end of the world. Now that someone who matches the anti-christ’s description (reasonable given the anti-christ was Nero) exists they are fawning all over him, just like the bible says false believers would do, and no one seems to see anything wrong with it, as if they never really read the story or prophecies in the first place.
In many ways I’m thankful it’s Trump, a barely controllable toddler, they’ve decided to worship. As long as Trump’s around, all white nationalist plans are on questionable footing. They could put everything in place to sweep the country of all non-whites and Trump could still suddenly 3am tweet fire their lynch pin, while unpromising a bunch of money he said he would give them that they’ve now already spent.
Currently we have the organized hardcore violent white nationalists being led by conartists and shit stirring cowards who will happily take their money and pretend tough then skip town when it really gets tough.

Re: Good King Trump
Yeah, but the chilling thing is when you read contemporaneous accounts of Hitler from before the Nazis took control - he was regarded as a buffoon. And fascist dictators aren't always the brightest types in general.
It may even help them in some way to be a bit idiotic - by getting others to underestimate how dangerous they are. Not because they're all secret geniuses, but because people overestimate how genius their systems are, and don't consider that a sufficiently sociopathic idiot being put in charge can do as much damage as it can. Perhaps you could say they underestimate the raw power of power, and think it requires intelligence to wield destructively. And he has some more intelligent* (but far less charismatic, to be fair) sociopaths around him, like Stephen Miller.
One thing that's probably good is that Trump is old, fat, has a horrible diet and apparently can't walk up a hill without a golf cart, so he's probably not too long for this world.
And to be fair, Trump seems to be even stupider in many respects than many of the dictators he aspires to having as peers. He's pretty bottom of the barrel, and the US system, while it has serious problems, does less to cover up his numerous failings.
*More intelligent than Trump doesn't mean a genius by any means.

REPORTER: 109 people a day die from guns in the US. Do you see that as a public health emergency?
TRUMP: I do. I do. I do. I do. And they die for a lot of other reasons, too.
In addition, it appears that the U.S. has "great mental illness."

Re: Good King Trump
Oh indeed and I think that’s what many think they have gotten but Trump’s not just a buffoon, his narcissism and poor mental development makes him such an unstable buffoon that cares for no one and nothing but himself to such an extent that he’s uncontrollable. His illiteracy keeps him from understanding any of the complexities or connecting with any group more than just base emotions in the moment. Like how he’s now upset that the mean Lady of Denmark didn’t tell him to fuck off in a nicer way.
If we look through his past, Trump has a history of shafting everyone, and not just the ‘other’ guys, but pretty much anyone that comes within his sphere gets shafted in someway because no matter what he says his singular purpose is to himself. Where are his cabinet members or his previous business partners, all gone.
That’s the problem when dealing with a toddler with power. It’s all basically a dice roll to see if you’re the unlucky target of his tantrum, and the more you roll the dice the more chances of hitting snake eyes. It’s also why the few that stayed for as long as they did, were also the ones happy to play dolly to his whims and tell whatever fabricated stories were needed to keep him happy like a good puppet in a puppet show.
Those who are smart know that the only way to get any control over Trump is through the daughter he wants to fuck, as she’s pretty much the only person with constant sway over the president, and even then it’s more of a nudge.
That’s not to say this isn’t all bad, but it could all be worse if he had a well oiled Bush and Cheney grade puppet presidency that was pushing the white nationalism as hard as our current Toddler in chief.

Rising global demand for sand? For sandbags to protect low-lying settlements from rising sea levels and increasing storms? Turns out it's not (just) that.

French tourists face six years in jail over claims they stole Sardinia sand | World news | The Guardian
Quote:
A pair of French tourists could face up to six years in jail after allegedly stealing 40kg (6st 3lbs) of sand from one of Sardinia’s pristine beaches.
Border police found the white sand, taken from Chia beach in the south of the Italian island, stashed into 14 large plastic bottles in the boot of the couple’s car.
...
Vigilantes patrol the beaches and signposts clearly warn it is forbidden to take sand. But unaware of the seriousness of the offence, many tourists find the sand an irresistible keepsake.

I suppose if you're going to steal sand, 40kg isn't much ...

Is Trump's deep fear and envy of Obama behind his plan to purchase Greenland? | News | The Guardian
Quote:
The president’s real reason for cancelling? Barack Obama was due to visit the country two weeks later. “Trump was terrified of the contrast between the reception that former president Obama would get, and that he would get,” Frum said on Radio 4’s Today programme. “He began looking around for an excuse as to why he couldn’t go to Denmark – Greenland became it.”

Re: Good King Trump
Those around the toddler in chief roll the dice to see who gets screwed today and ... Fox News comes up snake eyes!
I think a lot of analysis of Trump fails when it tries to treat him as a politician working political angles, and not an insecure abuser trying to control others while diverting shame as is the case. Turning on Fox news is moronic if he’s playing politics, but par for the course for an insecure abusive control freak and so much of how he acts reminds me of abusers that destroy communities.
Trump attacks Fox news in a set of angry tweet,
Quote:
“DNC communications director, spewing out whatever she wanted with zero pushback by anchor, terrible consider that fox couldn’t even land a debate, the dems give them NOTHING.”
|
That’s right, how dare fox news allow others even a tiny amount of what they allow me, I shall now neg them till they see it my way!
Quote:
“They should go all the way LEFT and I will still find a way to Win - That’s what I do, Win. Too Bad!”
|
And the negging continues, as expected from a control freak abuser there are no grey areas people either support him fully or they are the enemy, there’s no other option. Flying off the handle in this manner and declaring a previous partner a potential enemy is a technique used to get the other to back track, to defend their loyalty by appeasing the bully. Expecting fox news to crumble and say “oh I’m sorry we don’t hate you, here we will do something special for you just to prove it!”
Quote:
“I don’t want to win for myself, I only want to Win for the people. The New Foxnews is letting millions of GREAT people down! We have to start looking for a new News outlet Fox isn’t working for us anymore!”
|
Of course many abusers love to think of themselves as defending a noble cause. “It’s not for me, it’s for god, or the church, or natural order or the principle of the matter. If I get out ahead of them and tell them it’s not about me, both of us will be convinced this is for a noble reason and not pettiness.” “As I have now proven I’m noble and doing it for others, they will have no problem if I speak for them, and put my words in their mouths.” The abuser thought.
Besides the admission that fox news is right wing government propaganda, it also shows how he views their relationship, he considers them not as an ally but as an underling, someone who works for him and should show devout loyalty at all times. What’s worse is that not actively praising him and obeying his whim is considered disloyalty to be punished.
