Re: Star Trek is awesome
I miss Carl Sagan. and though I know Sojourner had no feelings, I feel sad for that dead little bastard as well.

On the other hand, I think sojourner lived like 3 times as long as planned and I would totally go to mars and explore it until I was 300.

Five Leadership Lessons From James T. Kirk
Quote:
Captain James T. Kirk is one of the most famous Captains in the history of Starfleet. There’s a good reason for that. He saved the planet Earth several times, stopped the Doomsday Machine, helped negotiate peace with the Klingon Empire, kept the balance of power between the Federation and the Romulan Empire, and even managed to fight Nazis. On his five-year mission commanding the U.S.S. Enterprise, as well as subsequent commands, James T. Kirk was a quintessential leader, who led his crew into the unknown and continued to succeed time and time again.
Kirk’s success was no fluke, either. His style of command demonstrates a keen understanding of leadership and how to maintain a team that succeeds time and time again, regardless of the dangers faced. Here are five of the key leadership lessons that you can take away from Captain Kirk as you pilot your own organization into unknown futures.

Can it not all be distilled down to the observation: "There are few problems in the galaxy that cannot be solved with a suitable application of concentrated phaser power,"?

From Rich Johnston at
Bleeding Cool , more info info on the May 2012 TNG/11th Doctor crossover comic!!!
Quote:
Last week, Bleeding Cool broke the story that IDW were to publish a Doctor Who/Star Trek: The Next Generation crossover.
Over the weekend, we have managed to ferret out a few more details.
The series will be called Assimilation . It will feature the Borg and the Cybermen.
It is written by Scott and David Tipton, who wrote a number of Star Trek comics for IDW, as well working on IDW’s Infestation crossover series.
It will be drawn by J.K. Woodward, best known for his Fallen Angel work for the company.
That’s all I know for now… and, seriously, I had to waterboard people to get just that.

Re: Star Trek is awesome
Just came across this comic--I guess I haven't entirely made the adjustment from the TOS to the reboot...I really expected to see Shatner &c-based renditions

The Italian is so perfect I can't even believe it. They even use the archaic formal tense you only hear in operas, old books and Sicilian dialects. So much greatness.

That is one of my most favoritest things Robot Chicken has ever done. I really would like to see the Wrath of Khan in operatic form. Also, a Klingon version of it.

I already loved the sketch, but this makes me
it 1000 times more. There's Opera Man, and then there's really doing the work.
