1.5 hour train ride from Waterloo then prolly a bus or van or something another 10 miles from Salisbury station from my quick Googling. I couldn't get over what all was a day trip away.

The bridge near where we stayed had a statue of Boudicca. Can't remember the name of the bridge right now. Just cool shit everywhere dude.

Anyway yeah

Tower of London
Buckingham Palace
Hampton Court
Ripper Walk
Double Decker bus tour
King's Cross Station (Harry Potter nerd out requirement ya know)
British Museum
One day simply walk out the front door and pick a direction and start walking. We came across cool shit everywhere.

We can go along the Embankment - Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, etc.

Plus there are a few ships permanently moored on the Thames that have been turned into bars!

Is there gambling? I don't gamble, but I love casinos (weird). What else is legal in London? Absinthe? Weed? Hookers? What kind of party is this going to be?!

Welp, there's a new shopping centre right by the Olympic Park and that has a spanking new casino which only opened last month, I think. We can definitely go there.

The Olympic Park is very close to the City so it won't take long to get there.

It's official! I have a flight. I arrive late at night on Thursday, July 5, and depart on the morning of Tuesday, July 10. Mom may or may not have to work on Monday. Lees, do you work regular-people hours, like Monday - Friday?

You may want to look into a Britrail pass if you plan to take some day trips around. Don't invest if you're gonna stick to Londinium though

So have you worked up a possible itinerary of camera-toting touring, or you gonna go for the hookers and smoke with Lees exclusively?

I do work regular people hours but I can book time off.

If you're not too ashamed of me, I'd be glad to meet your Mom too if she doesn't have to work.

Also, I keep looking for this thrad in either the Atrium or Lifestyle.

What kind of madness made you put it in History/Geography? I had to change my search criteria and everything.

I debated between Lifestyle and here, but since it doesn't say "travel" in the Lifestyle description, I went for here. On account of London is a geographic place and it existed during at least part of history.

Bletchley park is worth a visit. 30-minute train ride from Euston.

The National Maritime museum in Greenwich is interesting for geeks - lots of old clocks and other scientific instruments.

Now it's about 5 weeks. :freakout:

Lees, don't forget about me! I'll be there July 5 - 10, save the date. I don't know what days mom works, but I bet probably not the two weekend days. I'll find out for sure. I want to go to the Olympic Park! :eager:

I'm so superbummed you won't be able to do the evening adults-only Salacious Gossip Tour of Hampton Court Palace. They're shutting it down for the summer. :viagra:

Leeski, you need to go when it restarts in September and tell me all about it for the blog. They give you champagne!

Okay! She definitely has Friday off and works Monday, but she talked me into going without her on Monday. However, we have another lovely friend from los angeles who got gay married and moved to london maybe 5(?) years ago. We'll see him Sunday night, but he says he's also off Monday so I'll see if I can get him to go. See facebook for details!
