Re: Elder Scrolls Online
The stress test went very well I think. For something still in an early beta and a short form stress test everything went very smooth.
If I'm reading the NDA correctly, there's not much of anything I can say. Based on my very limited time and exploration I can compare: If you're enjoying Neverwinter on any level and enjoy the setting of Tamriel at all you will should enjoy TESO.
Also.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online
Beta invite. I has mine. Haven't really been able to do much as it's pretty laggy at the moment. Hoping to really get into it tomorrow, we'll see.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online
I'm bumping this, I'm curious as to whether anyone plays or has played it post beta. Curious to see how it turned out but not $60 curious unless it's worth it.

The fantasy setting is standard fair. Gameplay is decidedly unlike most MMOs and is fairly close to the Skyrim RPG (as I understand Skyrim's mechanics, I never played it).
That being said it plays more like a single-player RPG than an MMO. Sure there are group dungeons (delves) but it is completely unnecessary to ever step foot into one.
I also blurs the lines between your typical MMO archetypes (tank, DPS, and healer) as ANY class can take on ANY of these roles (depending on skill selections). Yes that means you can have a sorcerer in cloth armor and staff tank rather than the typical heavily armored sword and board tank. In addition, at least for the group dungeons, EVERYONE has to DPS some, even the "healer". Unlike WoW the healer isn't a reactive role, you have to DPS in order to burn down bosses.
All in all it is good, I would like to try some of the group dungeons, but I don't have a consistent group to play with and I don't like looking for group options.
It's worth the $60 since it has gone F2P. Those that subscribe only have minor (+10% XP) bonus and F2P players have access to the entire game (nothing is restricted to paying players). The only thing really, other than the XP bonus, that subscribing gives you is access to vanity items via the crown store.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online
curses got this while I was visiting this weekend and it looked interesting so I bought it after getting back. Download took from 3:30 PM til midnight. Then the patching started. I paused it after 40 mins and went to bed. It funished this morning and then the registration stuff took so long (damn you Captcha!) that I only had a chance to look at the character creation menu for a minute before leaving for work.

Yeah, even the initial updates at launch were ridiculous. It took me 4 or 5 hours to download updates in order to play.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online
it sure is purdy. Worth the initial price of the game-yes. Glad it's no longer subscription based. It's fun but not $20/mo fun.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online
I've been replaying Morrowind cause I won't have the game budget for the skyrim expansions let alone online any time soon… it's been a long time, I've forgotten almost everything.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online
I love Morrowind. It's a good one to play. I wish they would finish updating the graphics for the Skyrim engine. Wonder how that project is going...
