So the other night Inara, who will only eat about 5 of the hundreds of differents foods Mrs. KA can prepare, was eating her usual dinner of sliced cucumbers with a side of strawberries. About halfway through she stopped and said, "You know, Mommy really should learn how to cook other things for dinner."

"Mom, I need to talk to you. I want to know about politics. Can you inform me of what is going on in the world?" (yes, inform)

* LadyShea tells him a few things

"There's a word I've heard a lot, and I don't know what it means. Can I say the word? It starts with an A" (asshole? atheist? what?) "Anarchy"

Really? Where would an 8 year old here that word a lot? I never hear it!

He knows it has to do with politics, and he also suspects it might be a bad word, which makes me suspect that Kiddo might be associating with a babby punk rocker.

Well I dug a bit, and it was his 16 year old cousin and she was all "shh Grandma is coming and she will get mad" making it seem like a dangerous thing to discuss....or a bad word

1. Yes, "a lot" to Kiddo is that one time at Christmas.
2. Poor niece is suffering under some delusions if she thinks my mother, the one who stood in the street berating a dude with a gun one time, would get all freaked out by talk of anarchy
3. Right now, he's a law and order, conformist kinda guy (it helps him cope with his anxieties I think), so when I explained it he got really horrified.

ETA: I think I will get him that book lisa linked to

So, that post sparked me to go looking for a punk song I used to hear on the Windsor college station back in the Eighties and love. I just remembered the chorus, "There is nothing on TV, guess you'll have to look at me." Hallelujah I actually found it. It's by a Toronto band called the Dundrells and it's called "Nothing on TV". Now to track down a copy of the single, get an new amp for my turntable and I'll be a happy girl.

The other day we had some workers in our house with a nail gun and RA was explaining them to the froguar. He also said something like they were good to have around if there were zombies (because why not say that to a 3 year old?). Froguar put his arms out and made zombie sounds.

Then he told us that you can use a hammer to smash zombies.

And now we are figuring out how to limit him to toy unboxing videos on youtube instead of the kids playing minecraft. Barn door, horse.
