Ever since the Stanley family sold off the Hotel, and the new owners embraced the false story about the hotel and its part in the movie, Estes Park has somehow morphed into a new collective identity.
I'm not sure I like it, But, it's not just Estes. I think the whole state has become some other creation. Even Paradox has become a tourist trap.

GOP Rep. Ken Buck has graduated from "I'm not running for reelection" to " Fuck it, I'm outta here come next Friday." June 25, the date on which the Republicans will pick their nominee to serve in the 119th Congress, will also serve as the date for the special election to decide who finishes Buck's current term.
Lauren Boebert is beside herself with inarticulately expressed rage.

It seems like all the old line GOP folks are abandoning Ship before the election.
