Turmoil at facebook! Whistleblower spent two years trying to make things better from the inside before she said fuck it, they won’t change unless this goes public.

CNN"The thing I saw at Facebook over and over again was there were conflicts of interest between what was good for the public and what was good for Facebook, and Facebook over and over again chose to optimize for its own interests, like making more money," Haugen told "60 Minutes."

"They basically said, 'Oh good, we made it through the election, there weren't riots, we can get rid of civic integrity now,'" she said. "Fast forward a couple of months, and we had the Insurrection. When they got rid of civic integrity, it was the moment where I was like, 'I don't trust that they're willing to actually invest what needs to be invested to keep Facebook from being dangerous.'"

Facebook whistleblower revealed on '60 Minutes,' says the company prioritized profit over public good - CNN

I haven’t watched the 60 minute piece yet, but it sounds like it’s everything everyone expected but worse. Facebook knew they were harmful liars and didn’t care as long as it brings in money.

Facebook might not get away with it this time as more than just moral or ethics violations there’s solid claims they tried to hide it from investors, which in this religiously capitalistic country, is the only violation that really counts.

Combined with tiktok basically sapping all the youths who don’t want to be on the thing that their angry uncle posts on and see facebook as the land of boomers and old millennials, we might be seeing the beginning of the end for Facebook.

Totally unconnected, I'm sure* but facebook appears to be suffering a DoS or something right now.

Facebook, Instagram And WhatsApp Face Worldwide Outages

The reports say tens of thousands of reports, but if that's all it would make the odds of me being affected** 100 000 to 1 so I'm guessing it's way more serious than that.

* actually I'm not.
** okay, this probability is more complex than I've made it look there; sue me!

I haven't watched the interview yet, so maybe it's answered there or I missed it elsewhere, but are they still working on that Instagram for Kidz thing?

Seems to be huge. It looks like the whole thing is down. I'm not sure how you can DoS someone who has the biggest pipes maybe after Google or Netflix. What's going on? Stock market manipulation? State sponsored? A social experiment?

Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram suffer worldwide outage :: WRAL.com

From the link“This is epic,” said Doug Madory, director of internet analysis for Kentik Inc. ...

Jake Williams, chief technical officer of the cybersecurity firm BreachQuest, said that while foul play cannot be completely ruled out, chances were good that the outage is “an operational issue” caused by human error. Madory said there was no sign that anyone but Facebook was responsible and discounted the possibility that another major internet player, such as a telecom company, might have inadvertently rewritten major routing tables that affect Facebook.

Stollen from someone else,
Facebook just discovered ‘move fast and break things’ is a lot worse as you get older.

While a type of amplified distributed DoS can take down even large pipes generally it means you get stuck in the queue with everyone else (amusingly turning users into mini DoSers) but this goes immediately to server not responding, which kinda suggests the pipes are pointing at something that doesn’t exist. Maybe Zuck was deleting incriminating files and got a bit carried away.

According to Krebs on security, the DNS routing information for all of facebook’s systems got removed from the global routing tables this morning seemingly by an update from inside facebook. While this does happen occasionally through errors, this is the first time I’ve heard of such a widespread outage from a single update, as normally companies have multiple checks to prevent one update from screwing everything. So it may still be malicious, from someone with internal access to the company.

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp hit by outage | Facebook | The Guardian
This popped while I was still trying to see if WhatsApp Web was "down for everyone or just me".

And someone shared this from the BBC's Pidgin service:

Hmm, I have a theory ...

Facebook shares drop after site outage and whistleblower interview

Facebook's very, very bad day: Services go down as stock plunges in wake of whistleblower revelations - MarketWatch

Suckaturd has deliberately brought the infrastructure down in response to this whistleblower news. He knows it's addictive shit and forcing users to realise their place will make them more compliant when he restores the supply.

Last I heard it’s “on hold” until everyone forgets how bad an idea it is. Although it also sounds like their PR team hadn’t ramped up tested talking points so they weren’t quite sure yet how to smoothly transition from candy-vape to unfiltered menthols in a way that seems innocent and not like the predator they are.

The only way to prevent this from happening again is by hosing down Facebook's servers with sheep drench.

Indeed. The real disaster was global vaccine research being set back by 6 hours.
