Iranians aren't Arabs (and neither are Afghans), but then again Barack Obama isn't an Arab either, so maybe these fine distinctions are beyond that woman.

I admit to some confusion about who is and isn't Arab myself. I just checked Wikipedia to get some knowledge, and in addition to finding out where Arabs come from I found out that there is a very large Arab-speaking population in South America, particularly in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. I would not have guessed that.

Yeah, mostly immigrants from Syria and Lebanon. I think they had a president of Arab ancestry in Argentina once. There are sizeable communities in Colombia (Shakira is half Lebanese) and some Caribean islands as well, Jamaica anyway. Jamaican former PM Edward Seaga was a Syrian.
ETA: Oh yeah, Carlos Menem was the Argentinian president, his parents were Syrians: Carlos Menem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Turns out Edward Seaga was Lebanese/Scottish though.
