This comes from a Trumptroll. In addition to the egregious "this is not bigotry" bigotry, there are mistakes (grammar, spelling) that demonstrate poor literacy in a way that is bound to irritate anyone with enough education to notice.

But the predictable "you're so dumb" comments in response—they're a distraction, I think. I have a hunch that critics picking holes in the English serves to reinforce an underlying message that progressives are effete and smug and elitist and conservatives are down-to-earth and oppressed. It seems to me that mocking illiteracy is such a double-edged sword that right-wing propagandists might deliberately deploy errors in order to provoke the attacks.

Right-wing tactical solecisms; they're a thing, aren't they?

I don't know that they're doing it on purpose, but I'd actually agree that pointing out spelling errors is petty. (I'm not saying I never do it. But it is petty.)

But the spelling errors are the least of the problems with that. There's the fact that transgender goes both directions, that Cowper's gland is a biologically male organ, and most importantly, I have never heard anyone make the argument they seem to be rebutting.

Maybe the spelling errors are supposed to distract from the more serious issues with their position?

I'm going to post twice in a row, though, to say I do think you make a good point. I have seen left-leaning people say some colossally ridiculous things just to disagree with someone they've determined they disagree with.

So it's entirely possible that a gullible person might take the bait and argue that transwomen have uteruses and such.

Commissioning a foreign national to do work for your campaign isn't illegal. If it were, it would've been a crime for Trump to hire Cambridge Analytica, which was UK-based.

What is illegal is accepting a "thing of value" as a gift from a foreign national for your campaign. So, it would've been illegal had Steele created this dossier and then handed it to the Clinton campaign for free and she accepted it. And it would also be illegal had she paid him only a nominal fee - it does not become legal because you simply hand the foreigner a dollar.

I'm not even sure what the exact relationship between Steele and the Clinton campaign was, but the point is you can hire foreigners, as long as you pay them market rate, and I've seen no suggestion that Steele was working for free.

And that's for private foreign individuals, not the government of Russia or Ukraine.

But anyway, I do enjoy the reminder that back in 2016, the Democratic candidate's husband meeting with the AG was considered corrupt, and these cultists still say its corrupt... but the President firing the head of the FBI because it eased investigation pressure on him is fine, and pressuring and eventually firing the Attorney General over his decision to recuse himself from an investigation of the campaign, which he participated in, is fine, etc. etc.
