Seems true on the surface especially with the adventure where a chat bot turned into a Nazi:

Cultsmuncher hasn’t improved in the six years since his rebrand, but in the same timeframe AI bots sure have.

This critique from the article really highlights an issue with AI generated work that I think GPT is running into as well, as soon as the wonder of it being generated by a computer wears off and people start to scrutinize it more, you start to see the WTF moments that our brain happily pastes over on first viewing.

Mainstream entertainment has been lowest common denominator fluff forever, though. I kind of like the idea of AI replacing artists who create generic pablum.

Mostly those artists are just trying to get a paycheck like any other worker though. It's the producers/management who make the decisions and set the scene for drivel.
Maybe the financing and production decision people should be replaced by AI.

If you want lowest common denominator fluff, look at fanfic. Those authors are making their own decisions.
I predict fanfic co-created with AI tools - and it's not going to be any worse than unaugmented human fanfic.

20 years ago I was heavy involved in a number of fanfic communities.
AI seeded with fanfiction.net would be mind bendingly horriblawesome.

I don’t know if I’ve posted this here, so I might just be repeating myself, but the movie/special effects industry is in a crisis right now, and AI could be the way forward.
The ridgid process of SFX means that certain choices need to be locked in pretty early on, and a director/producer who doesn’t understand this can and has bankrupt special effects studios.
The amount of output needed for things like the Marvel Empire also means that artists often get stuck being machines, where they do nothing but fire, or smoke effects, day in and day out, just smoke, always smoke, nothing but smoke. Which then leads to a crazy high rate of burn out, when they’re asked to push overtime doing smoke.
I can imagine a world where an AI understands how to integrate modifications into finished film, eliminating a ton of redo work. As well as one that’s been trained by the studio’s artists to do the best or signature smoke effects or other work, so that future animators can just say “Smoke here” and boom it looks professionally done.

Sounds like the application of the right amount of AI could reduce tedious chores, thus improving quality and speeding up output from animation studios. That's always been the best application of AI, IMO.
