Re: Miscellany
While we're not out of the tornado warning zone, we think the worst has passed. Lots of lightning and heavy rain still with us.

Re: Miscellany
We actually had a tornado watch in effect here this afternoon. It may still be in affect. Of course, I haven't read the news or anything so who knows what's going on out there, besides the rain and wind? No sirens audible, at least.

Re: Miscellany
Just your ordinary rain, thunder and lightning now. This is the third tornado warning in the last 10 years - the first was a no show, the second is the one that hit downtown Atlanta, and apparently this was a miss as well (with fingers crossed).

I was in town the day after the storm that hit Atlanta. So much devastation and poor poor Oakland Cemetery.

Re: Miscellany
They just recently got all the windows replaced in the Westin Plaza, to take care of all the ones that were taken out by the tornado. They must have had that in mind when this storm blew up.

On the other hand, 7 ft. tall iron statue of Robocop!

OMG I was totally going to start a thread about this but I forgot. I am 100% pro the Robocop statue.

Robocop hisownself has a few words to say about this.

Re: Miscellany
Sadly, Robocop 3 was filmed in Atlanta. It was most heinous. I only watched it because a good part of the film was shot near my home at the time.

In response to my "oh look, temporary tattoos" at a festival, the person I was with said we should not get one because "How do you know that they are temporary?"

Re: Miscellany
Oh, yeah, he does. Slaughter facilities for horses are less common in the US, but still around. Most kill buyers* send horses to Canada and Mexico nowadays, where there are less stringent oversight laws on horse slaughter.
*The folks people sell their pet horses to most often, when they put their pets up for sale at an auction. Also, kill buyers buy US Wildlife roundup wild horses, and many "older" racing Thoroughbreds.
