Re: Time for an Arizona sux thread
LOL, re: AL and Confederate stuff, I think my AL-state-employee cousin used her floating Confederate Memorial Day holiday to come and visit us this year. We are always asking her what her plans are for her Confederate Memorial Day.
I've started reading the AZ Republic's web news, so I should have plenty of fodder for this thread soon.

Lolabama also celebrates Jeff Davis' birthday (in addition to Confederate Memorial Day and Robert E. Lee's Birthday). In fairness, though, it looks like the rest of the Confederasah is equally crazy.

Actually, now that I look at the state calendar, she gets a floating Mardi Gras holiday and the Confederate Memorial Day and Jeff Davis Day may or may not be floating for her depending on her work schedule. They are definitely days off, which is unlike other states (or at least GA and NC) where the courts and stuff are open even if it is an official holiday.

Re: Time for an Arizona sux thread
I think there should be a campaign in Northern states to have a Union Memorial Day or to simply emphasize on Memorial Day how we're also honoring soldiers who kicked the Confederacy's ass.
Or maybe it would be even better to call it Confederate Defeat Day or something.

Re: Time for an Arizona sux thread
When I moved to Jefferson several years ago there was a confederate memorial statue i nthe town square. the thing was old, and I thought, "yeah, signs of our racist past"
They remodeled the square this year and I think they put up an even bigger confederate obelisk memorial marker.

Yeah, how do you think the returned troops feel when they hear the words giraffe and algebra? Support our troops!

Well, obviously she means "as opposed to the ululating of towel-heads, their goat herds, or camels maybe I don't know, and all the freaky scorpions and snakes and shit they have over in those scary-sounding furrin places."

Taking pride in our great nation as we did changing french fries to freedom fries, I nominate a change of name of the dust storms to reflect our new national leaders of cronyism and corruption helping cause the awesome droughts and dust storms and oily waters from sea to shining slickery sea - they should now be known as "Haiburtonboobs".
