Default British Swearing Classification

Welp, I suppose this needs a new thread:

http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/bin...016-report.pdf

The "watershed" to which the chart refers is the "9 p.m. watershed," after which guidelines are relaxed.

Interesting figure:

A young acquaintance of mine liked to use the word "bugger" in conversation, and often said "bugger me" when frustrated by something or another.

She was rather embarrassed when I told her what "bugger" means. (I told her because several people were sniggering behind her back at the thought of this sweet, innocent young girl constantly making references to anal sex.)

Aw, that's sweet! It's so old-timey, like being offended by "damn."

I love the phrase cockwomble. Sadly so many of these don't have the same effect here in the states.

Just noticed that 'ginger' is a swear word. wtf? If they're classifying physical attributes used as insults what about shorty, fatty, southpaw, freckle-face, baldy and four-eyes?

"Sod off bloody ginger cow." :larrow: all mild

Fuckwit is to a degree, as is Twatface. I have never heard an American use Tosspot. I feel like I'm missing out.

America has a lot of tosspots, that's for sure. Y'all need to start using this term.
