NoScript is a Firefox add-on that disables scripts on pages unless you allow them. It's something you would know if you'd put on your system. If for some reason, you aren't sure, go to the 'Tools' tab and click 'add-ons' if you have it, it will be listed.

I don't know what the problem is, then. It must be a setting somewhere, but I couldn't find anything that seemed likely.

Oh man. Despite those reassurances that Google isn't doing actual image recognition with their Google Image Search, I just put an actual picture of me into it and it came up with a bunch of other pictures of me, including these:

Thank you, ers, for helping solve my problems. I think Mick hit it with the other person's privacy settings. YB, I found the dialogue box and was able to post. I went to my profile and re-did the un-checking of all the notification boxes, but this time I scrolled all the way to the bottom and saw the "save changes" button. I think the tide flood of e-mails has been stemmed. You guys are awesome.

Well, turning off all the checkmarks on FB notifications did NOT ultimately stop tons of e-mails being sent to me every time someone posted in the group. However, I used another one of you-all's suggested tricks, and changed my FB e-mail. They ask for confirmation to change your e-mail, so it had to be an e-mail account I could access to do that, but that's what I did. Now all the e-mail notifications are being routed to an unused e-mail address.
