Hi, everyone! :wave:

I'm new here (obviously) and wanted to post an introduction. I guess I'll start with the list of questions below. Let me know if there's anything else I should disclose.


1. How'd you find the Freethought Forum?

Purely by accident!

2. Are you a member of any other online forums? Which?

The only other forum I frequent is one which is parenting-related, and that one not so much anymore.

3. How do you feel about smilies (emoticons)?

When used in moderation, they can be fun. I especially love creative and/or surprising smilies.

4. How do you feel about 3000+ smilies?

Intrigued!

5. Is flaming:
A. Hilarious
B. Beneath you
C. Irritating as fuck

I never participate in flaming, but sometimes I watch with interest.

6. Is vulgar language:
A. Hilarious
B. Beneath you
C. Irritating as fuck

In the proper context, it can be quite hilarious.

7. Why did the chicken cross the road?

Because he could, of course!

8. Who pays for your food?

Hmmmm. That would be a combination of me, my husband, and my family (who helps us out financially so that I can stay at home with the kids right now).

9. What's one thing you've always wanted to do but never have?

Get my Ph.D.

10. What is your single favorite place in the world?

Rome.

11. What's the significance of your username?

My research interests involve Vedic and transitional Hindu texts, especially relating to gender, fire, and sacrifice. Agnipariksa, more commonly known as "trial by fire," is one of the most fascinating themes to me.

12. What about your avatar?

My avatar is an artistic rendering of Sita's agnipariksa from the Ramayana.

It's lovely, but I think a transparent background would set it off to better advantage, don't you agree?
