Art Does the Graffiti in Your Neighborhood Look Like This?

Because mine sure doesn't, much to my dismay. Banksy - Outdoors

And my personal favorite:

yeah, the only graffiti i see is probably much the same graffiti you see liv.

and none of it is this hi level, which is bullshit.

since banksy is all famous and shit, do you think that there are shop owvers who like wish that he would tag them just to increase foot traffic.

Nah, that's him.

His wiki is cool it talks about how he came up with the idea of using stencils when he was hiding from the authorities under a train and he saw the numbers stenciled on the cars.

Very cool stuff.

It would be interesting to know how he makes the large stencils. It's not hard to do ones on standard paper sizes with a computer. Trying to something so large would require more than the standard stuff available for home computers.

^This.

You know, there is some nice work around Cabbagetown, but nothing even close to Banksy. I wish he'd come here and do some work.

Yeah... All the stuff in my neighborhood looks like that trash behind the "WHAT?" by banksy. It's nothing more than "tagging", which has a great deal in common with "marking" by tomcats and dogs. Piss poor, in other words.

bey, liv, have you been through that famous graffiti tunnel in Atlanta? I saw it for the first time last weekend, on the way to my friend's sister's house. It's not this caliber by any means, but still some talented painters have been drawn (heehee) to that landmark over the decades.

He did the Center Camp Cafe mural at Burning Man in '01:

I volunteered that year, I wonder if I accidentally met him. Nobody Really Knows Who He Is, apparently (cue woo-woo music).

Yeah, when I lived in London, some of the graffiti looked exactly like that - see attachment. Banksy is fantastic, I bought his book. Here's another site with pics of his work.

My other favourite graffiti artist is Invader. Saw some of his stuff in Barcelona and Paris. Graffiti tiling! Brilliant idea.

That's the one I was talking about around Cabbagetown ;) It's right off of Edgewood, or you can take DeKalb Ave.

I love that people were charged with vandalism for spraying over graffiti (the kissing cops)

No problem, it never dawned on me that it had a name, it's always been "that place near Cabbagetown".

I'm just glad others have seen how wonderful of a spot it is!

One of the major graffitti centers for Australia is Melbourne. It's kind of like the San Fransisco of the Australian graffitti scene. There's a shit load of excellent stuff down there.

Banksy's stuff is great. There's a lot of sticker artists in Brisbane who have been inspired by him and I like looking at their stuff around the alleyways of my city.

I also used to love watching the graffitti on the morning train to work. Then the fucking council went and painted over it. It was really beautiful stuff too. There's still some great works around the CBD but it made me really sad when they reduced the gorgeous art to a buff gray/green.

There was a phenomenon here in Perth a while back where some kids had picked up on Wandjina Koori legends and were stencilling Wandjina motifs everywhere over Perth. It was awesome. Then some stupid elder fucks started wanking about how only "speshul" Indigenous people are allowed to paint the Wandjina and some of the kids got busted. I swear, religious pontification and patriarchal power-games transcend race, class and religious cult boundaries.
