Trivial things that annoy you
Getting woken up at 2:00 in the morning by the sound of one of my cats finishing up spewing the contents of her stomach onto the pillow two inches from my head, followed by the sound of pre-vomit gacking. I toss her off the bed before she can get any more nastiness on my bed, get up, and take care of the mess.
Getting woken up after just getting back to sleep by another of my cats laying on my pillow, next to my head, growling at another cat. I toss her off the bed, just start to get back to sleep just to have her do it again. Repeat twice more.
During and after the above scenario, the first cat who gacked on my pillow comes back up onto the bed, waking me up by meowing for attention. I toss her off the bed and she comes back a little bit later. Repeat twice more.

pouring milk into a cup already containing water unknowingly... and then sadly and confusedly drinking said flavorless milk

A person (I assume he/she's human anyway) who keeps insisting that I screwed something up that I didn't.

Re: Trivial things that annoy you
Hey back!
Note that the thread is for trivial things? It's not like I'm going to jump down someone's throat for their pronunciation, it's just that it's an annoyance. But damn it, yes, I find it both trivial and annoying.
eta: add to that the non-rhotic speakers; for goodness sake, that "r" is there for a purpose, use it!*
*unlike the silent p, k, and t that English is littered with.

Re: Trivial things that annoy you
I don't think a cat throwing up next to your head is trivial. Especially when you have to get up and fix it.
So sorry Shelli, you have to get out of your own thread.

In the realm of animals at Tiggermonkey Zoo? Unfortunately, yes, it's trivial.

Re: Trivial things that annoy you
Why do so many letters keep silent? I like to pronounce those quiet ones so that they have the chance to feel empowered.
Knocking ashtrays/ cups of spit sunflower seeds.
Running out of Germ X then miraculously becoming sick do to over sanitization.

Re: Trivial things that annoy you
Oh, oh, oh! I just remembered what annoys the fuck out of me. People saying PIN number and ATM machine. I'm almost at the point of congratulating people who get it right.

Re: Trivial things that annoy you
Sitting down to watch a season premiere of Lost after all these years ... and daring to be disappointed at the pace of the storytelling. Shouldn't I know better by now?!
