Brexiters got all excited on Brexit day as Guernsey banned French fishermen. Everything was fine till Guernsey fisherman went to process their fish in France.

France refused, the fish rotted & now the war is over.

I'm not sure Nick Tolhurst (if there is such a thing) hasn't made up the bit about the French refusing and it being over. The latest report seems to suggest that the French boats are currently not fishing in the disputed waters, and that they will seek and be granted the permits that Guernsey authorities say are required.

Yes, that particular incident was about a lapse in allocation of permits, not a change negotiated with or as part of Brexit.

An unforeseen* exception to the "nothing will change before the end of the transition period" rule.

* I mean who could have foreseen that some things might need to be checked, or that people other than the UK (such as Guernsey, which isn't part of the UK or the EU) might be affected.

What a surprise.

It's never been very clear what the trade priorities are of the UK govt (the portion that is pro-Brexit because it will remove the supposed obstacle of the EU from getting trade deals with other countries). USA, China and India are probably the top three, but they don't seem to have any strategy for aligning them or managing the disagreements arising from things like Huawei.

Of course, they are beginners at this trade negotiation business, not having done it for 40 years.

The chancellor Sajid Javid has resigned (rather than obey the PM to sack his advisory team). This is not a thing that happens often. The budget is due in 4 weeks.

Having flown to Europe as a family where some of us (me, my mother and one of my siblings) have EU passports and the other two (my father and the other sibling) do not, you really see the advantage of the EU passport.

Of course, when you're with people who don't have it, you still have to wait for them... but you get to sit instead of standing in line at least.

The border queues vary hugely with time of day and where other planes have come in from. I've even experienced the UK/EU queue being redirected to the allotherpassports queue because it was shorter.

Back when the UK/EU was a thing.

You can easily get monster queues within the EU when anything unusual happens. Frankfurt ... German efficiency doesn't apply when it's their lunchtime.
