Being old (and ground up by the relentless gears of decrepitude) it took me 48 hours to come up with an answer to "If only he (Plissken) were here he would say/do what, exactly?".
I cogitated on it as I ate my Cream of Wheat.
Pondered it as I took my Geritol.
Wondered about it as I watched the Weather Channel.
I conclude he would say little, shoot people, and blow things up.

As I (re)consider it: I'd prefer to see the Hobo do the shootin' of people and blowin' up of things.

Ok then.
So you were basically saying "I wish someone would just shoot up this place" or something?

I said I hadn't seen it (you know, when I said it was "before my time"), which is why I asked what you meant by that.

I have. It was okay in a man-the-80s-were-weird kinda way. Escape from L.A. tried to follow up but didn't take any cues from any of the great sci-fi action movies of the early 90s like Demolition Man or Terminator 2, so it feels a full decade older than it is.

I've seen it, more than once even. I have a soft spot for John Carpenter movies, even the lower quality ones. But I still don't get how Snake would champion the cause of vague, ill-formed notions of self-reliance, or avenge the butthurt of those who epouse them.

Post 18 (Ebola Alert for New York!)
...and...
Post 15 (The topic is whatever comes to mind...I'll post whatever I like here)
Don't look for thematic consistency where there is none (or, do and be befuzzled…*shrug*).
This is, after all, the 'the bigoted, poorly written, lolbertarian, golly-gosh thread'...I ain't gonna work hard in it to do much of anything.

Oooooh...
You actually use the titles and icons for messages within a thread.
Weird.

You've been asked this before but you didn't answer, so I thought I'd give it another shot. Do you genuinely believe this is an accurate description of this country at some point in its past? When exactly?

Does the truth matter, or just what feels like the truth?

Perpetuating myths isn't good for anybody. Doing it knowingly is worse. So, are you a liar, or just misinformed?

Your problem, then, is expecting explanations where none are (or, will be) given.

Why, then, are you posting your BS on a discussion board, if you don't want to discuss it?

Re: the bigoted, poorly written, lolbertarian, golly-gosh thread
Now I have an indelible mental image of some old guy gumming his Cream of Wheat and quaffing his Geritol, fully supported by an array of government programs like Social Security and Medicare, while lamenting why we can't just all be good old individualist bucanneers like in the days of yore that never actually existed.
Sort of like Ayn Rand, who discovered she had lung cancer after a lifetime of smoking and defendning cigarettes as a laudatory exaple of Man having tamed Fire, then availing herself of every government benefit she could get as she fought said cancer. "Hypocrisy" comes to mind.

"Why, then, are you posting your BS on a discussion board, if you don't want to discuss it?"
In other words: 'explain yourself'.
No.
#
"Now I have an indelible mental image of..."
As you like.
#
"I might as well poast pics"
As I say in post 15: 'I'll post whatever I like here. And (because I'm not selfish) you can play too!'.
So: Have at it.
