I was at a fair or something in a small local town but as is often the case in dreams, it turned out it was actually Paris. There was a stand with a person (DJ?) where you could choose a sort of game by pushing one of several buttons. I took one that was called "fight the synthesizer" or something very similar.

I got a microphone and my voice was transformed by some sort of delay, pitch adjustment, distortion and other effects into a piece of music that evolved as I sang the notes. It sounded really amazing, but I can't remember it exactly. The goal seemed to be to get the timing right and achieve a sort of resonance effect with the beat. It was different from karaoke in that you created your own song from scratch, without a template.

What was more weird was that with that resonance effect, I started to swing around in circles on a rope or line which was also the microphone cord. When I really got the beat going, I was maybe 10-15 meters off the ground, holding on to the microphone and going around fast in circles with a similar radius. It was awesome and nonsense at the same time.

After I woke up, I was thinking about building something like this, maybe minus the carousel part.

I was at some sort of shop or bake sale where they were selling these cakes decorated with reproductions of old masters style paintings done in colored sugars. I don't even care about or like decorated cakes most of the time because they're all loud and cheesy looking and because fondant doesn't even taste good, but these were really beautiful and subdued.

So now I really, really want to do that, but it's exactly the sort of thing I usually suck at, because I am a pretty sloppy kind of guy.

Can someone else please make me some cakes like this?

I dreamed I was in the hospital recovering from a serious illness. I was visited in the hospital by my friends Catia and Titan, whose names have been changed to protect the innocent bystanders. Titan went out to get them a cup of coffee. When Titan returned, Catia was on the bed with me. It was just hugs, honest, not sexual at all. Besides, I was sick.

One of my colleagues has a pretty severe case of ophidiophobia. I just got an e-mail from her in which she says that she had a dream she was in a meadow when two very large snakes appeared. She says that they looked just like Nagini from the Harry Potter movies.

In her dream, she says, she was terrified of the snakes. Then I appeared, calmly captured both snakes, and then strolled away with them. She e-mailed me to thank me for saving her in her dream.

I can only imagine that the Dream Ranger was more like Mr. Rogers. You sat down with the snakes, addressed them by name and mildly chastised them before asking them to follow you to a safe place. "Now (snakes' names) you know that humans are generally more afraid of you than you are of them. It's okay to be scared, but it's not okay to be scary. Let me show you a good place to get some sun and where no one will bother you."

I dreamed I was dead. I didn't know I was dead for a while, I kept getting up and going to work, but everyone acted like I wasn't there. There was someone in my chair, working my shift. When I asked them why, they acted like they didn't hear or see me. After several days of this, I figured out that I was dead.

For some reason I was riding the bus to work one morning, and there was a woman on the bus who made eye contact with me. She could see me, and she could see that I could see her too. I moved over to a seat across the aisle from her. We talked for a while, then the bus got to her stop, so she got off. I went back to work to be ignored again.

The next day, a dark gloomy day. I got on the bus again, but once inside the bus, I found the bus was only about six seats long, and was full of strange people, no seats available. I was on the short bus! I tried to get off, but I wasn't allowed to. When the bus stopped and the door opened, there was nothing outside the bus door, nothing but darkness.

That woke me up.

So yesterday, my brother called and said that he and a friend had just gotten back into civilization after camping in Wyoming for a week, and were going to stop by for dinner and then get a hotel, but they couldn't find a hotel, so they stayed here, so last half of a long story short, we all ended up staying up to late watching most of director Neil Breen's Fateful Findings, which is an absolutely awful movie in the vein of The Room, where the director writes himself in as some kind of hero figure, primarily with the goal of paying ladies to look at his naked butt and make out with him.

Like that.

So then, I go straight to bed and have this super extended dream where for some reason, I am responsible for Neil Breen, and he's just annoying and inconveniencing me in all these varied ways.

And then, you know how when you're sleeping, you kind of wake up sometimes, take note of your surroundings real quick, then fall straight back asleep? But when you're sleeping somewhere different, you have to wake up a little harder so you can remember where you are and why?

Well, that happened to me in my normal regular bed, because Neil Breen had climbed into bed with me and Matlock, pushing me into the middle, and I'd gotten mad and left to go sleep on the couch, so I was really disoriented to wake up in my own bed instead of the couch, and without fucking Neil Breen there. I actually said WHAT? pretty loud.

Here's a dream from May 25:

I had a lot of disjointed dreams last night, but one stuck in my mind. I was on a game show on TV called "Name That Car", with host Bill Cullen. I totally knew that Studebaker hubcap, but missed the Hupmobile badge. I thought it was Hudson.

And another, from April 23:

I had a dream that contained a lost dog, four sisters with names that start with T, mysterious frogmen armed with Airsoft pistols loaded with knockout darts leaving wet flipper prints everywhere they went, a German guy I kept calling Victor, and 15 diaper-wearing Buddhist monks smoking marijuana.

A dream from March 31:

During the night I had a dream about witnessing a motorcycle accident. A guy on a battered green Kawasaki dirt bike ran into the side of a moving train. The motorcycle slid under the box car, but he hit the box car and fell partially under it. The train wheels ran over his legs, severing one just below the knee and the other just above the knee. I grabbed the first aid kit out of my truck and ran to render assistance. I dragged him away from the tracks to see what I could do. There was remarkably little blood, the train wheels had smashed his legs so badly as to seal them off. He was unconscious but alive when the ambulance took him and his severed legs away.

Same dream, but later on, I was in a convenience store when I heard tires screeching and a loud bang. I ran outside to see what was going on. It was another motorcycle wreck, this time a brand new bright green Kawasaki dirt bike. The rider had hit a pedestrian, lost control, hitting a stop sign post. The stop sign was bent over, the sign itself standing on it's side. The rider was conscious, smiling, and holding a smartphone, trying to take a selfie with his only remaining hand, and even that was only partly there, his pinky and ring finger were severed and squirting blood. His other hand was hanging by flesh only, and bleeding profusely. It was then I noticed he had no lower legs, prosthetic limbs had come off in the crash. It was the same guy. The pedestrian was conscious, said he thought his hip was broken, but was otherwise okay. Then I rendered aid to the idiot motorcycle rider.
It seemed so real.

I've been told the latter dream sounds like a nightclub described by Bill Hader's Stefon on SNL.

Nearish future university campus partly built out on the sea. Telephones replaced with walking, talking holograms of the people you're talking to. Something involving the Secret Service going on in an extensive underground chamber. An unseen all devouring thing that controls minds if it touches you.

So flying has become more common in everyday dreams (where in the past it was hovering) recently that's meant adding characters that can fly to otherwise normal dreams. Oh look, supergirl goes to my high school, yeah that's normal, but wait, why the hell am I back at my high school? *flys around high school*. Only after I woke up did my brain go, "Wait, why the fuck was supergirl there?" She was just a background construct not even important to whatever the dream was about.

This morning in dreamspace I brought my pet guinea pig to the vet because it wasn't eating well.

(I don't actually have a pet, but did recently buy a plant, and been thinking on how to repot it.)

The veterinarian tut-tutted and pointed out that its teeth were too long. I'd neglected to get it proper chew toys and it was suffering. She would clip the teeth this time, but I had better start taking care of it properly.

(Fuck you, subconscious. I bought a plant.)

I told her I'd bear this advice in mind and brought my pet outside in time to hear a distant roaring noise and see an enormous wheel go spinning down a distant street, followed by a veritable river of water. Was that a hydraulic turbine? Was that a dam breach? Was civilization ending? It was.

Who would feed my guinea pig now? I realized it was scrawny, emaciated, and hated me. I would have to crawl on my belly and pick grass for my guinea pig until it loved me again in this new and horrible world.

(I bought a plant I BOUGHT A PLANT)

Everyone just sort of decided to have a do-over, so we had another presidential election, and "Liberace" won. He was a 93 year old Liberace impersonator, but there were rumors he was really Liberace.

So when I woke up, I checked to see when Liberace was born, and it's 1919, so he would actually be 98, but I think that's not too bad for an on the fly guess at how old Liberace would be if he were alive today.

So I briefly woke up in the middle of the night, as you do, looked at the clock and it was 3:30 or something, so I went back to sleep and then dreamt that someone came in the room, sat on my bed, and told me to wake up, so I did, realized it was a dream, went back to sleep, AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN.

That was really mean of whoever's idea that was.

There was this place we owned, I don't know how or why, but my brother and I were working on it. In the outer wall of the living room above the big window which was similar to a store window, there were several compartments of a lemon vending machine, so you could buy individual lemons from outside. We needed to open them because one lemon was rotten and there was an awful smell. A bunch of coins fell out and I was afraid people would think I was a robber or something.

I’m not sure what was in that one but when I woke up needing to go pee, I hesitated because what if there were a monster under the bed and I’d be dragged under by the ankles.
