I haz lotsa baby rats!
Ok, more like two Mommy rats do and get pissed off at me when I take them away for photos; I got the full on angry rat display from the head mommy. Yes head mommy, I watched her last night teaching the younger mom how to better stuff nesting material. It was quite interesting.
Some people really like them at this stage, I think they are cuteish but can't compare to full baby fuzz, which at the rate they are growing, will be soon. The 'dandruff' is flaking skin from where the babies first hair follicles are pushing through.

More details then,
The two moms are from a backyard breeding case and were flat packed and shipped from Florida to SF. Unfortunately a boy got mixed in with some of the girls and it turns out being loaded on an airplane and shipped across country is not scary enough to prevent some hanky panky (So just remember when you fly there's always a small chance there are rats under your seat getting it on!).
There are 23 babies in total from two different litters one born on the 10th the other the 12th (Yes the larger ones are a whopping 9 days old). When the babies get hungry they chirp like tiny birds and at this stage their skin is partially transparent which means you can tell everyone has been nursing when you see a band of white milk in their tummy.

We have an about five pound fence enemy named Nora whose warning growl is just straight up trilling. Like this tiny, high pitched warbly sound.
I need to get the experts in to find out if it's uvular or like an obelisk troll or whatever tho.

I keep a tank of goldfish in the Bio lab. I think every Bio lab should have some living creatures in it.
A few minutes ago, I dropped some fish flakes into the tank. Naturally, the fishies gobbled them up quickly. Except ... one of the flakes got stuck to the side of the tank, juuuuust above the waterline.
The others have given up, but one of the fishies is determined to get that flake. It's kind of amusing to watch him try.
