To be accurate, what Matthews held up was a copy of the certificate that the "loonballs" claim is a computer generated certificate and not a photocopy of the original, long form, birth certificate. They do not deny its existence. They just deny that it constitutes proof positive that Obama was born in Hawaii.

Chris Matthews has a copy?
Why does not Obama just show one to a court; there are many cases he is fighting, and be done with this whole thing?
Is it really a good idea to let this fester like it is, now the precedent has been set that members of the military that do not want to follow particular orders can claim Obama ineligible.

Obama is "fighting"? He isn't "done with it"?

That may be true, but when they are in the US military and are refusing orders based upon this idea then there may be other grave consequences.

No, because the plaintiff's ENTIRE action was a pile of shit right from the start and as such doesn't merit any response at all from the government, apart from the government's pointing out to the court that the plaintiff's claim is a pile of shit.
The court, in what I expect was among the easiest decisions it ever made, agreed.
And since the government has no such burden of proof, the "decision" you claim was made never even existed. You may wish to bear in mind* that there are several lawyers on this board who, unlike you, understand a few basic procedural concepts.

When and where did the government claim "Obama is not legitimate"?

Re: Best Birther Lunacy Evar
As for Matthews's interview, I don't think there's anything facially objectionable with Congress's desire to draft enforcement legislation for those constitutional requirements in Article II. But his questioning seemed to reveal that the critter in question either at least sympathizes with the birthers or else is seeking in some sense to officially validate the birthers' lunacy.

Re: Best Birther Lunacy Evar
Just to be a tad more clear, for JEROME DA GNOME especially:
"The entire action is dismissed for lack of subject matter jurisdiction."
A court's jurisdiction (in this instance, subject matter jurisdiction, which is among several types of jurisdiction) is THE THRESHOLD QUESTION in any legal action. In other words, if you can't get past that, you're cooked. In this case, none of the defendants have any legal obligation whatsoever to even address -- let alone rebut, or "prove" otherwise -- any question raised by the plaintiff beyond the issue of the plaintiff's choice of court's jurisdiction, which the plaintiff failed to establish.
Personally, I'm pleased that Obama has thus far refused to even engage these wingnuts' "concerns." As would I. He knows he was born in Hawaii, and he's already proven it. I hope he's getting as much of a kick out of these idiots as many of us are.

Read this thread about the State Issued Certificate of Live Birth and the word of officials of the State of Hawaii. That was also in response to soldiers. The birth cert thing is a non issue.
Actually your argument about the definition of natural born citizen being tied to parental citizenship was at least something new. Wrong in my opinion, but not the same tired "He wasn't really born in the US" crap.

I believe he's trying to say that the government has set a precedent where, any time a serviceperson wants to duck out of service, he or she can simply claim that the Commander in Chief does not hold their post legitimately, and the government will rescind deployment orders. That's bullshit, of course. As was clearly explained in the article I linked earlier, Cook was still within the time period where, as a member of the voluntary reserve, he could withdraw the request for deployment that he himself made. His orders weren't rescinded because he challenged the legitimacy of the President. His orders were rescinded because he withdrew his voluntary offer to be deployed.

It's not unreasonable in and of itself, but it's an unnecessary solution that only exists to legitimize the idea that the phantom problem it purports to solve is a real one.

Wow, that lady in the video is nutty white trash and stupid. "The United States of America" doesn't issue birth certificates the individual states do.

The UK is a democracy, but not a republic. The US is a democracy and a republic. Neither are direct democracies, except in some state and local matters (in the US anyway, I don't know about the UK).

I think Freud compared the ego of a crowd (in general) to that of a 12 year old (it's been a long time since I read his book on group psychology)
