Started the new quarter today, just one class: Communications Systems. Looks like it'll be fun.

Re: FF Student Lounge
I am taking an online course on animal nutrition this summer. Our first quiz, last week, was due at midnight, so I stupidly assumed that this one would also be due at midnight tonight, not FOUR MINUTES AFTER I LOAD IT UP FUCK FUCK.
I think it went okay though.

Fuckers.
I had my last exam for this semester today. Only one semester to go and I'll have a uni degree. Who'd a thunk it?

I'm sorta feeling the same way. Got a form in the mail today asking if, provided I pass my current papers, I want to graduate in the August ceremony.
Unlike you I'm on the wrong side of exams. As in I have two in the next two days.

Re: FF Student Lounge
That is the worst. I had a good run this semester, three days between three exams. Exams on sequential days throws me out.
Exciting though, ready to graduate, get the paper, get a real job.

Re: FF Student Lounge
There's no such thing as a real job. You can have a thriving career or a grueling grind, or anything in between or outside, with any level of effort, responsibility, importance and/or income, and there will always be some dipshit who cleverly quips, "When are you gonna get a real job?"

Re: FF Student Lounge
Still, something that I actually want to go do at least one day a month would be a welcome change of pace. My goal with school is to find such a job, and I hope teaching will be it.

Last quarter I had 3 exams in 2 days. The two on Monday were from 8-10, and then 10-12; and then one on Tuesday morning 8am. Fortunately, I had my easiest one first, then they got progressively more difficult.
Only taking one class for the summer quarter, so that shouldn't be bad at all. And yay! Week one is done, btw. Just 9 more to go!

I'm registered for US History and English Composition in the fall.
I still haven't decided what I want to do when I grow up.

Re: FF Student Lounge
Finally got registered for fall. Three CS courses and one multicultural literature thing that I have no interest in except that it satisfies two of my core requirements. The CS courses are Theory of Computing, Data Structures, and Symbolic Programming (my first upper-division CS class, whee!). I would have taken AI this semester, too, but it didn't work out, schedule-wise.
I am really looking forward to getting my ass back in the classroom. Again. Some more.
Preemptive .

Re: FF Student Lounge
I had an elective to do last semester and there were no interesting science subjects available so I went far afield and did Religious Traditions and Rituals, a subject aimed at education students who are thinking of teaching in a Catholic school. I picked it because it looked interesting. It examined the evolution of Christian rituals and traditions ( ) with a dose of PoMo and feminism thrown in.
There were two pieces of assesment, both worth 50%. The first was two short essays on two of a variety of topics. I did the role of women in the first century Christian church and Docetism and Adoptionism and their influence on the Nicene Creed. For that assignment I got a Distinction, the equivalent of a B. My referencing and trying to cram a lot of information into 1000 words each let me down.
For the second piece of assessment I contacted the tutor and got permission to amend an existing topic on the sacrament of marriage. This was the original topic:
Quote:
Apply the theological principles outlined in Topic 6 of Study Materials to the Christian sacrament of Marriage. Include details of the ritual structure of the sacrament and discuss the theological understandings that underpin this sacrament.
|
I changed it to be "Theological principles and homosexual marriage: A case for Christian acceptance of gay marriage."
Apparently I improved my referencing because I got a High Distinction plus for the paper, giving me a High Distinction for the whole subject. Which is ironic because the highest I have received for any of my science subjects has been a Distinction.
I'm going to put the paper up in the Articles and Essays section because I'm damn proud of it.
I'd also like to thank Doc X. for the Walsh paper he used in his essay on homosexuality and the Bible. I used that in my paper, amongst many others.

Re: FF Student Lounge
Oh crap, statistics in my engineering class? Oh well, apparently we need it to model noise in the transmission channel. At least it makes some sense though. Maybe I'll almost forget it's statistics.
