Sordid Fiction is a very good album, I should add. More layered (organs, piano and such) than LotL's earlier stuff, but still catchy literate punk-folk-rock. I recommend it.

I've been seriously digging "Giulietta the Just" in particular:

You used to be so hard to console
Now everything is under control
...do you like it like that?

I'll confide I can't decide which is true,
If I'm more afraid of what i might do
or of what I might not

Seductive sense of sorrow
from counterfeit Cabirias
in sleepy towns all over

You're saddled with that Cadillac heart
So beautiful but is it so smart
In a city of sharks
in a city of sharks

It's beautiful immutable
inside your head
inside your head
Unsinkable, unthinkable.
The Street runs red
A violent red
Inscrutable.

Your conscience caught you leaving the scene
There's no knowing just how clever you've been
It's a long way home
when that voice that taunts you is your own
And your laughter is a veil of grace
hiding tears that glisten from your face
in any case
Well it's all a dream
from the solitude of prayers unseen
to the crimes of the century
Nothing's really ever how it seems
...do you like it like that?

Anniversary by The Cure. From the latest, self-titled album. Damn this is good: layered sound, curious off-beat rhythm (I'm no musician so I don't know what I'm talking about), and dark as hell.

Ooh, that's such a good album. It's definitely in my top 5.
It's great. I love the samples taken from the movie of the same name.

I'm currently listening to...nothing. My speakers at work broke :(
Ugh.

I spent most of the work week listening to headphones. Equally useful for listening to music and drowning out my coworkers bigotted conversations.

If only...sadly, I have to be available to answer the phone.

I did, however, steal a coworker's speakers, so..
Currently listening to TSOL-Silent Scream

Be sure to file off the serial numbers on the speakers and repaint them.

I'm currently listening to the Dead Kennedys, Holiday in Cambodia.

That album got a bad rap from the Hip's "sing along while hammered" core fan base, but I think it's their best. "Greasy Jungle", "Yawning or Snarling", "Thugs" and "An Inch an Hour" seriously grew on me the more I listened to them.

They say that patriotism is the last refuge
To which a scoundrel clings.
Steal a little and they throw you in jail,
Steal a lot and they make you king.
There's only one step down from here, baby,
It's called the land of permanent bliss.
What's a sweetheart like you doin' in a dump like this?

One of the best records ever.

"Dylan's reactionary thesis," one reviewer called it.
