I just figured out that Donna is Wayne's crazy girlfriend on Wayne's World. "Stacy, we broke up. Get the net!" I was thinking she was Trinity from the Matrix but bey straightened me out.
Okay, this is why I'm glad I'm watching this with you guys, cuz can you help me out with that?
All I could say was "I'm pretty sure Ghandi and King were never the most sarcastic, condescending assholes who never gave it a rest for even five seconds, not even after Andy suffered a severe (but admittedly hilarious) head injury or Ed's goddamn wife attempted suicide for fucks sake." So where does he suddenly get to pull this zenner than thou attitude for taking the punches he extremely deserves, but not punching back, but still trying to press charges, btw. Don't get me wrong, I love Rosenfeld, obviously his shit is hilarious (in a vacuum, because it's characters on a show and not real humans he's abusing), but I just don't think that clip jibes with anything else coming out of that character. Cooper and the Tibet shit, sure. But not Rosenfeld.
Also I really like the Air Force major. He was one of my favorite nobodies in the first season, all his lines sound like poetry. I especially like where they're taking him in season 2 so far.

I think that was kind of the point of Cooper saying that his path is a strange and difficult one. Rosenfield is large, he contains multitudes, and things are not always as they seem, both recurring themes.
So I didn't take it as an endorsement of Rosenfield's claims, but a reveal of a previously unrevealed aspect of the character, and of the internal conflict that represents. And, not insignificantly, as an unexpected punchline, because that was funny how he says that and then puts his sunglasses on and walks out like a tough guy.
And oh, yes, Major Briggs is an awesome character. I can't remember at what point that one scene is with Bobby, but if you haven't seen it yet, I don't think it's a spoiler to say he has a really good scene with Bobby.

Some observations after just three episodes:
1. What is it with all the phones being attached to walls or cords that plug into walls? Were they too stupid to have smart phones?
2. People actually think Twin Peaks, pop. 51,201, is a small town.
3. Piper Laurie has some ugly-ass bare feet.
4. I don't think I look that much like Jack Nance outside of the hair and shape of the face and nose and eye placement. No, I think he is much better looking than I.
5. You find prostitutes by going up a river. Symbolic?
6. Paging Dr. Richard Kimball, your one-armed man was seen in Twin Peaks.
7. Ooh, switchblade knives, so dangerous. Ooh, upward flashlight shining on face, so ominous.
8. Jesus Christ, Ed, wipe your hands before you come in the house. Ed, you idiot, you got your grease on my cotton balls. Oh wait... I suspect Lefty One-Eyed Lopes murdered Laura Palmer because she made too much noise.
9. FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper is obsessed, but not with crime-solving.
10. Wait, the cafe jukebox has the Audrey Horne theme music? Is that B-17?
11. Is it just me, or wouldn't you pay money to see Lara Flynn Boyle and Sherilyn Fenn get it on?
12. Peggy Lipton was hot in the early 90s. Then again, so was I, or at least I thought I was. She still is now, but I am not. That probably means I'll never sleep with her. *sigh*
13. The Palmers seem to take turns being lunatics. I suspect one of them murdered their daughter.

I'm only through six episodes. I didn't realize the first season is only 8 episodes. Now I'm not so that SOMEBODY binged the first season. And also, now I'm kinda mad that they're sort of making it look like one of the two suspects I first suspected which means that I'm totally wrong in my first guess. Another also, for some reason I thought the "weird Lynchian weirdness" happened later in the series, but that's simply not true. So far it's only a little bit of oddness and it's being introduced in a very sensible trickle.
Otherwise, for it being a character show, there are some fantastic characterizations going on. Starting with the Palmers. Even if it's colored in a very broad strokes, I find them fascinating. Grief can do some major shit to people and it can really stress a relationship.
I was also slow on the uptake. Madelyn was in a couple of episodes before I realized she's one of the people Coop's dream was telling him about.

I tried watching some more of season 2 after bey went to sleep last night. I got as far as
Leeland goofing around in the mirror with Bob where his reflection should be and then turning around toward the camera

Looks like I will be watching the rest of this during the day with all my people and dogs awake and alert and ready to protect me.

I do like the other soap opera bits like Lucy's storyline, which is so human (so far). It is interesting and touching that in this crazy weird universe she has her own shit going on throughout. I like that it's not just the Laura Palmer show.
Finally,
I just got the reveal on who Tojamora is and I was like whaaaa?! and and Obviously it was somebody, by the makeup, but I had no idea who. Now I just want to know where he got the 5 mil. I figured maybe it was a fake check but Ben said it checked out.

I wonder if a big part of the reason the ratings tanked is because how do you even follow that up? All those different elements of the show--stupid goofy Dick and his dumb smoke setting off the sprinklers, Leland's realization and reaction to it, and Cooper's empathy and weird preternatural wisdom--all coming together in that one perfect scene.
Whatever comes next is going to be a letdown, and it kind of is, so I recommend sitting around stewing for a little while, maybe, and waiting at least a day to start again.
The show stays good, though. I promise. Stick it out.
Is bey not watching with you either? Because Matlock isn't watching with me. So if you ever want to plan some Strangers on a Train like crime with me against those guys for not liking good stuff but stupid things instead, we should totally do it in these spoilers. THE PERFECT CRIME.
And you guys all need to know that Leland's musical repertoire has a HUGE amount of overlap with my dad's, including Mairzy Doats as the default happy song. So anyone suffering from a case of earworm, pour out a forty for me, because I probably have it even worse.

That is Julee Cruise, who worked with David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti on lots of projects.
