Have any pets?
I hope I’m not duplicating a past thread with a similar topic. I looked a little and didn’t see one so, here goes. Presently, my girlfriend I have two cats (Maine-coon and a ?), an iguana and four Ecuadorian hermit crabs. Here is a list of the pets I’ve personally owned in the past (not including family pets when I was a kid in my parent’s house): Dogs 2 (wolf/German Shepard, German Shepard), Snakes 15 (6 ball (royal) pythons, 1 reticulated python, 1 black racer, 5 garter snakes, 1 whip snake, 1 corn snake), Red African fire skink, Ornate box turtle, Mouse, Crayfish and a few dozen aquarium fish (always fresh water).

Re: Have any pets?
Sara is gorgeous! I had several of the teeny iguanas when I was in jr. high. I loved the contemplative pose they adopted: very zen. But, boy, they could move surprisingly fast when they wanted!
Your cats make excellent couch ends -- it's nice when pets match the decor of the room. (just kidding!)
If you ever get pics of the hermit crabs (are hermit crabs as shy as their name suggests?) please post here. Or post here AND in the Members Gallery

Re: Have any pets?
We have two ferrets.
Guinness (aka boofhead) a male sable, he is totally cute and can sit on his hind legs. We found out couple of weeks ago he has cancer and has a lumpy neck. But he is happy and boingy so its the best we can hope for.
Demi (aka evil white worm) a female albino, who i'm sure is sucking out our life force and will live forever. Can climb the back of the fridge and is just generally evil but cute but evil.
Grew up with many pets, Blue Cattle Dogs, horses, cows, chooks, cats, birds.....
Would love a dog but we both work full time and are out alot so it wouldn't be fair to the dog.

I have two fat orange goldfish called Fred and George. I really need to put some more water in their tank. It's only about half-full and it leaks so I have to put a bucket under it.

It's about time I had a few pictures of them. I'll post them soon. Actually hermit crabs are quite gregarious. They generally huddle together during the day as they hide under something (they're nocturnal). At other times when they’re cruising around the tank there is often more than just one of them. They travel in pairs a lot. From what I read, it’s actually supposed to be unhealthy if you have just one hermit crab. It’s the ultimate misnomer.

Re: Have any pets?
I have two Feline-Americans.
Bucky:
and Pie:
It seems I also have a really hideous brown couch.
I have part ownership of an Equine-American named Sugar (I know, I know; the name isn't my fault, thank God) but she lives at my dad's and I don't have any pictures of her.

When did you get Dimah, Dave? Last I knew it was just you and Nissa. Dimah still looks all kitten fluffy and adorable.

Re: Have any pets?
We have three cats; Greystoke, Maya, and Hermes. Hermes is a kitten we got for our roommate Rah. Our other cats, Bacchus and Yojimbo, died over the last year. Greystoke's about 15, and I will be absolutely miserable when he dies. He is also the weirdest cat I have ever known, and there is serious talk of saving up to clone him.

Just three weeks ago, which would make her ten weeks old. One of my irresponsible friends didn't spay his cat and I got first pick of a litter of 5. She was the only one with that fluffy hair, the rest had regular shorthair cat hair.

Bummer. I think they would be cool to have. It's one of the few creatures I've never considered having as a pet, well, until now. How long do they live for?

I should really take some more; he's getting HUGE (but still hasn't caught up with his paws... kinda scary.)

Seahorses are very, very difficult to keep. They're extremely sensitive to changes in temperature and ph and stuff. Even huge, established aquariums have a hard time keeping them alive. (I once considered setting up a seahorse tank, but a friend who worked at the Monterey Bay aquarium warned me off the idea with a great deal of strong language.)
The New Orleans Aquarium has the best seahorse exhibit I've ever seen. They have all kids of seahorses and pipefish and even leafy sea dragons, which are about the most unlikely creatures on the planet. They look like elderly drag queens with scoliosis.

Fay & Fred lived the longest... about a year... Sarah & Diana died after just a few weeks...
After they are dead though, you just sit them on a paper towel and let them dry out. They are odorless and perfectly preserved, you can hang them on the christmas tree!

Re: Have any pets?
I thought seahorses were make-believe.
Maybe I'm thinking of something else. Something mail order. Sea Monkies?
ETA: Yes, Sea-Monkeys. But they're real!
