Question Emus? BUT WHY, THO?

I went for a bike ride and saw two emus out in a field, making emu noises.

Why would anyone in Michigan own/ farm emus? I don't understand. :blank:

Currently, emu farming is 'farm to fork'. That means that the farmer raises the bird, arranges the processing and production of products, then sells the products. These products include:

Meat

Leather

Oil Products

Feathers

Claws

Eggs

Bones
Nope. No. Still can't wrap my head around this. :blank:

Several years ago, my grandfather considered this. The emu market never took off the way he thought it might, though, so I'm sure he's happy he stuck with cows.

It's like cows or chickens or any other livestock, only emus. Some people raise ostriches for the same purposes. I LOVE ostrich steaks. It's like filet mignon.

I was just saying how I wanted to try an ostrich omelet ever since I've seen Anthony Bourdain eat one. :awesome:

Heh. That's odd. I thought that would be big news. There seems to be an absence of a certain ornithological piece. A headline regarding mass awareness of a certain avian variety.

Oh, have you not heard? It was my understanding that everyone had heard.

Scotch Egg, Ostrich style

Emu is pretty good to eat. I had an emu burger at Outback Steakhouse once and it was delicious.
