My friend and her husband, both Sriracha enthusiasts and beer lovers, bought the Sriracha beer. Resounding thumbs down from both.

Just when some are calling for the end of the sriracha trend, Heinz is coming out with Sriracha Ketchup. Now I can quit the painstaking process of mixing sriracha sauce and ketchup and just give my chicken nuggets and sweet potato fries a squirt.

Since moving from the west side over to the east side of the country (that's over 3 whole hours!) the sriracha selection has been much poorer. Very rarely the Tesco here will have the regular flying goose, but no one ever has the extra garlic one :( Even when looking online neither Tesco nor Asda have an offering. I went to the one Chinese shop in Boston, but it was very small and didn't have much to offer.

So I was browsing the interweberies and found the awesome Chinese supermarket we used to go to in Bristol does country wide deliveries now! :w00t:

So I stocked up on sriracha as well as the best satay sauce we've ever found (by a large margin).

Chinese.jpg

One large bottle of Huy Fong, one large bottle of Flying Goose and 4 medium bottles of Flying Goose extra garlic :D Along with the 4 jars of satay sauce :wriggle:

And is that a cutting board with a wrought iron handle?

And some sort of Tibetan bell set?

And did you miss a spot when you were wiping the counter, or possibly just a variation in the grain?

And what about that white bowl? Why is only part of it showing? WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO HIDE?

Sort of... it's not quite that big, but yes it's soy sauce. I need about 1.5 cups each time I make jerky and it's sooooo much cheaper bought that way!

Yes. No. Never, possibly. Nothing, picture size, way too much to even begin.

ANY MORE QUESTIONS? :eyebrow3:

My roommate must have some kind of fetish for teriyaki. At peak I think we had five bottles of the same brand just sitting around.

Well I'm glad someone finally asked.

It's a cute little microwave that is curved at the back to fit into a corner and thus save space. In cream of course to match the rest of the kictchen.

No, I do not. My kitchen scale is an extremely janky old mechanical scale, and it barely works at all. It's no more accurate than eyeballing, really. I don't even know where it came from, because I can't imagine me buying such a stupid and ugly scale that barely works.

But that's OK, because I am an American, and I am not a drug dealer.

Sooooo...I'm assuming your scales measure METRIC WEIGHTS. You know what profession uses metric weights?

Now. If slimshady is finally done regaling us with his extensive personal inventory, I will bring the thread back on topic.

A while back, Matlock and I saw a guy crossing the street with a large bottle of sriracha in the water bottle holder of his backpack. We didn't actually see him take any swigs, but it's a pretty safe bet that's what it was there for.

I bought a can of soy sauce at least twice that size because it was on a ridiculous discount. I don't even remember how many years ago that was, at least over five. I think I've used maybe, maybe a fourth of it. I keep wondering if soy sauce ever goes bad. It's this one.

That can seems to be dated back to 1630, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

For the best quality, we recommend using the sauces within one month of opening.

Do I need to refrigerate my opened bottle of soy sauce?

Once opened, the soy sauce will start to lose its freshness and the flavor will begin to change. By refrigerating the sauce, the flavor and quality will remain at their peak for a longer period. As long as no water or other ingredients have been added to the soy sauce, it would not spoil if it had not been refrigerated.

Do my other Kikkoman products also need to be refrigerated?

The flavor of our other sauces will decline much quicker than our soy sauce. So they should be refrigerated after opening to preserve their quality.

Rogue Sriracha Hot Stout beer? Has sriracha sauce jumped the shark?

Quote:
But then the finish came on. It started with a sharp bitterness less of a nice hoppiness, and more like drinking a cleaning product followed by an unregulated blast of burning pepper. It wasn't sweet or rich or even meaty it was an almost flavorless heat that assaulted the palate.
I once tried a jalapeno beer at Eske's in Taos, it was a lager with a peppery finish, just enough heat to make you want more beer.

I'm going to give this one thumb up. It's good, but not great. I'll be using it up before going back to yellow mustard though.

The problem with all of the Sriracha-whatever products I've tried is they may be using sriracha peppers in their products, but it's definitely not Huy Fong Foods Sriracha Sauce.
