Re: First World Problems
Alexa apparently forgot what to do when I say "Alexa Light On," so I just had to get up and turn on the light switch myself.

My daughter has to REMEMBER what Netflix episode she was on when she switches from one parent's home to the other and the accounts change.

Re: First World Problems
We have officially achieved "bomb cyclone," so our power went out briefly a couple of times, which shut down my ACTUALLY KIND OF NEW COMPUTER and farted up my MBR.
There are some fairly sizeable outages nearby, so I am waiting to fix it until the power is more reliable, because I don't want it to fuck it up any worse.
So I have to internet on my laptop in the meantime.

Re: First World Problems
Does your internet not go out when the power goes? We had hail and wind and power out and we had to computer on our phones!

Re: First World Problems
The power just went out briefly a few times, so everything, including the internet, came right back. It's just that the MBR got corrupted when it shut down. I didn't want to be right in the middle of fixing it only to have the computer shut off again.
I'm still having that curse where literally everything seems to be breaking on me, and I'm having an increasingly difficult time convincing myself it's funny. I'm kind of afraid to touch anything.
I got it working again after the winds died down. There are still a few things I need to do, but I'm scared to right now.

Left in a hurry this morning and forgot to put on my jewelry -- now my hands look bare and my ears feel empty.

Re: First World Problems
I forgot I had my car plugged in to the mains box ready to be heated in the morning before my commute and just drove off this evening leaving the cable in my parking spot like a decaying, yanked-out umbilical cord. Worse, my neighbour found it and put it aside "helpfully", just to embarrass me I am sure.

Re: First World Problems
AT&T (our DSL provider) sent a paper bill showing $7.75 due today. Online they showed $59.25 due April 18, which includes the $7.75 plus the bill for the next month of service. I scheduled a payment that will come out when I get my Social Security on April 10.

Re: First World Problems
I have a regular sauna shift every Friday, but I like to wash my hair every other day, so I have constant issues with some idiot making the week an odd number of days long.
With great constraint and effort I now managed to go 3(!) days without washing it so I can get into the rhythm to be set up again for Friday (if and when I do wash it daily the hair immediately starts expecting that and starts becoming greasy again after 24 hours, like, all the time, so I avoid that like I try toa void disease contagion), and then remembered I have a work thing on Friday night and therefore will not be attending the dratted sauna this week.

Upsetting dream! That I won't go into because it was pretty upsetting and I'd rather forget it.
But it was long, and detailed! And when I woke I was 'well that was unpleasant but it must have been like, a Really Long Stretch of Sleep! Something that becomes more elusive as the season shifts toward lots and lots of DayStar.
Nope. Maybe an hour.

I went to put on my ski pants and apparently my waist got bigger over the wintertime. In all of animal kingdomdon animals lose weight over the winters. Except people. We get larger because we haven't figured out hibernation.

Based on Kam's post before yours I thought we were in the weird dreams. And I was nodding along. Cool dream.

Re: First World Problems
I took my wife to make a deposit into her business account. We went in the lobby, not the drive through, not the ATM. The teller took the money without counting it into the drive through office, closed the door, and came back saying we were 60 bucks short. She asked us what we wanted to do, just count it as 60 short of what we thought it should be? We were both sort of dumbfounded. My wife said, I counted it, I think something is wrong. The teller said, uh uh, I counted three times. More baffled silence. We took the receipt and left. I suppose we should have thought to ask what the options were, since she never counted the money in our sight, but we were both sort of huh whuh?
My wife got increasingly agitated as we drove so I turned around and we spoke to the manager, who told us the teller would never steal, she's known her all this time, and we should have stopped her from leaving the counter with money uncounted. She said there are cameras so it's impossible to steal. She didn't offer to let us see the video.
I'm filing a complaint with the FDC. I don't really expect anything to come of it, but at least they can hear from the FDC. I'm also closing out all our accounts. This is bullshit.
