Clare Hollingworth, most famous for breaking the news that WWII had started, has died, age 105. Of course, she had a long, productive life and accomplished a lot more in her career than that one scoop. LGM's tribute is pretty good and worth reading.

"Jaki was always proud of being able to make certain people in the audience vomit," claims Karoli. "He could focus on one person in the crowd, and this person would start vomiting. We had a very medical approach to music."
Ugh, that’s just horrible news. Can was one of the all-time greats and probably my favourite Krautrock band, and Jaki Liebezeit’s drumming was literally the foundation of their entire sound. A few choice cuts:
Warning to people not familiar with them: This stuff will seem very weird at first. It’s so, so worth listening to repeatedly until it starts to make sense, though.
This is a horrible loss for music.

Also I didn't know but according to the wikipedias he was the drummer on Brian Eno's Before and After Science. Also a great album. But then I am partial to (mostly pre-ambient) Eno.
There was once a time when the CBS Saturday night lineup featured the Mary Tyler Moore Show, All in the Family, the Bob Newhart Show AND the Carol Burnett Show. That's the kind of Make America Great Again a non-Nazi can really get behind.

Butch Trucks (Allman Brothers Band drummer and co-founder) has also died, age 69. I'll have to listen to At Fillmore East tonight, and probably quite a lot of the rest of their catalogue as well.
Mary Tyler Moore is a huge one. I also didn't know that Liebezeit played on Before and After Science. That's one of Eno's best (though I think Another Green World is still my absolute favourite of his).

If memory serves, that album also includes the definitive version of One Way Out. The double drumming with Trucks and Jai Johanny Johanson was always straight up spectacular.
