I love the Dutch and not just because of monkeyface above. Every Dutch person I've ever met is just really pleasant company (and as the blog says, speaks perfect English) and they're one of the most wired nations on the planet (as well as being one of the most left-liberal).

If I was ever to move to another country, Holland would definitely be a contender. I'm hoping my Afrikaans would help me learn Dutch. I've heard that Afrikaans sounds like the way Dutch parents speak dutch to their children, a kind of kiddy-Dutch. I suspect its because of the excessive use of diminutive suffixes like "-jie" but I could be wrong.

Don't forget that the windmills played a pivotal role in the war of independence. I don't know how many Spanish noblemen got their heads bashed in charging them, but the losses were considerable.

BTW Liv I was just looking at my sig and wondering why the smileyface is, in fact, hugging Lesotho, the tiny landlocked country inside South Africa. Shouldn't he/she be hugging South Africa, perhaps using the gap made by Lesotho as a handhold?
