Maybe we could kill that association if we told the MRAs that they're wearing a woman's hat. The fedora was created for Sarah Bernhardt when she played Princess Fédora in the Victorien Sardou play, and it was worn exclusively by women for over three decades until Prince Edward of Britain started sporting one in 1924.

I was flabbergasted and flummoxed to read about that. Made me think back to my misspent 1970s youth hanging around bars in Youngstown, Campbell and Struthers, OH with a bunch of Pabst-drinking mill rats. Yesterday I wondered out loud whether those 1970s Youngstown-area mill rats might have been some sort of proto-hipsters, but Mr. Pea says that's impossible because those guys weren't drinking Pabst ironically.

Back in the day Pabst was total swill, even by my appallingly low standards. I haven't done any drinking in over thirty years. Has Pabst gotten better, or are modern-day hipsters knowingly and intentionally consuming swill for some dumbfuck socio-cultural reasons?

As someone who's drunk it within the last 30 years, I can confirm that it's still swill. One evening drinking PBR was more than enough.
