Unfortunately, we do not own that novel. I'm willing to bet if we ever did it got stolen by a patron.

I knew the scum were in San Jose this year. Last year they were in Ann Arbor, which is far too close for me. All I can say is better you than me, Ensign Steve.

I saw this sign today and can't decide whether it's the definition of "everyone" or "welcome" that they don't understand.

My vision is getting blurry. Tonight I went in Home Depot to look for stuff to make my attic hatch the most energy efficient attic hatch ever, but I forgot my readers! Feck! They are way out there, all the way out in the parking lot! I can't read the damn units on the price labels! There is this thing though, that if I make a small aperture with my hand and peer through that, as if my hand were some kind of magic macroscope or something, I can focus the letters and unblur them. I don't have a clue why that works.

Unlike what the links suggest, you aren't making a pinhole like in a pinhole camera as the image doesn't flip. Instead you are making an aperture, like in a camera lens or your eyeball. In an aperture you are adjusting how parallel or columnated the light is. By removing the light that isn't as columnated you get a sharper image at the cost of brightness. This is why out of focus light looks like the aperture as it was the last thing to 'shape' it.

This is also why candle light seems to glow, your pupils dilate to let more light in and the less columnated light starts to blur the image. Do the hand trick (no the other one) to a flame in a dark room and the edges will become sharper. And why bright summer days seem so crisp.

A pinhole doesn't use a lens to form the image and flips up, down and left for right since it's causing a focal point to form at the pinhole blocking out all rays that don't fan out from this focalpoint. (ETA: Since a pinhole style focus must block out so much more light, the images produced by them are much dimmer than an aperture and lens.)

Captain EO has a very special place in my heart as it was the first time I could experience 3D on the screen. I was 16. I may have to pull a WDW trip out of the hat somehow.

I love Guitar Wolf, but Mick got really pissy when I told him they were cooler than he is. Apparently he gets that comparison a lot, and not from friends being playful. Oh well, I can't spend all my time soothing his artistic ego.

I ordered something from the big giant online conglameration thing that wants to devour all retail everywhere, and something terrible happened, just like I knew it would.

I took the free shipping, and every time I checked my order, it still said they were preparing to fill it, or w/e. I was like, is this supposed to make me pay for Primus, because really it is just pissing me off, like they're milking it on purpose to try to get me impatient so that next time I buy the damn Primus to get the FAST free shipping. This is just making me dig my heels in harder to just be patient and keep gettting the free shipping for really real free.

But, there is a but, I was all pissed off for nothing, because really they shipped it pretty fast, I got Saturday delivery even, but they just didn't update the order status, and oh by the way, they forgot to charge my card too. Now I'm all like what?, because I have a moral dilemma about owing them. Should I just rip off this big devourer of all retail or do I have to tell them they forgot to charge me and also they probably shouldn't ship this second one of the same item they seem to have in cue?

That company owes me about $1500 for freelance work I did for them years ago (they kept losing my invoices after some stupid internal temper tantrum that had nothing to do with me), so feel free to take them for whatever you can. It's on me! I am charging, but not keeping track of interest, so let's say, conservatively, you guys can rack up $1M or so from them before entertaining the idea of feeling guilty about it.

Feel free to zoink Microsoft, too, for the Windows taxes I've paid over the years, and the time Windows intentionally fucked up a bunch of work I'd done.

Thank you for being so super generous today. It seems fair, since they don't seem to mind running a tab at your store and everything. I don't even have an invoice to lose!
